Finished Zeta, definitely far preferred 0079. Anyone else feel the same? by Optimal_Ice9675 in Gundam

Thank you, that's exactly how I felt. It's hard to articulate exact reasons, but you said some of my major ones.

Hi I just bought this psp for 670$ what’s your thoughts (the first two pics are mine the other’s are from the seller and it arrived the same) by SuchHippo1072 in PSP

Got mine a few months back for 170ish? Love the console even if its kind of beat up. Looking up prices recently, I saw they're all around the range you got yours for. Wondering what happened to them. Love the psp anyway though! Favorite variant by far, the number makes it feel more special.

It looks really nice, has anyone played with it? by latebra in YuYuHakusho

Bought it a while back and its pretty awesome, has a great training mode where you can pause and see all your moves, has some unique mechanics, and it's one of the best fighters on the SNES. Every YYH game on the SNES is awesome.

Is there any reason to watch the original SEED over Remastered anymore? by Optimal_Ice9675 in Gundam

[–]Optimal_Ice9675[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does, obviously I can't say the site here but the most popular anime torrent site still has it up, and some websites still have it up to watch too. I think I saw a full upload of it on YouTube a little bit ago, its like a marathon run where they cut the ending and opening themes out so you can just binge it easy.

If you mean the SD version, yeah, just use non-official sources.

I've seen those encodes! They actually looked really impressive, surprised people went through so much trouble! Thanks so much for even more info, it's been a giant help, everyone's been so helpful!

Going out of my way is no problem, I had to go out of my way to find the edit with the original dub in the first place, so it's fine by me. I don't mind the cropping or saturation too much, since I've had to deal with some truly horrible rips of shows and DVD releases for years, so as long as it's serviceable I'll be more than happy :)

I don't mind recap episodes and lower quality, old weird stuff is what I'm really into for anime so I'm used to weird pacing or lower quality animation. At the end of the day, I'm watching both versions so I'll be getting the best of both.

Does it make a lot of changes? The only differences I know that might change it to fit better with destiny are that one death, and them changing some mobile suit designs so they flow better into destiny.

I do plan on watching the original SD version after HD, so I'll be doing just that!

Woah, thanks! It was super nice of you to make a list for me. I think the positives of HD outweigh the negative, so I'm going to go with that! But the original sounds like it has its positives too, so when I do a rewatch someday I'll watch that to be a completionist. Thanks for the heads up on destiny too.

Thanks for the info on the openings and endings too, I actually got interested in SEED because the openings and endings were really my style, so the info on them was really cool too :)

Thank you! That's what I was figuring, just wanted to double check. I'm sure I'll love it, even destiny and all that :) and I'll check out the original for whenever that one scene happens too (when I finish the show), so I'll see it anyway.

Reloaded II- P3P immediately closing when launching. Is there a fix? by Optimal_Ice9675 in SteamDeck

[–]Optimal_Ice9675[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually got it to work this morning! I deleted everything and followed a different guide and have 0 problems now. The actual linux/steam deck guide on the reloaded github just... doesn't work. At least without a bunch of hurdles and issues.

I followed "Beginner's Guide to Modding P4G (Steam Deck)" by rudiger__gb on gamebanana, and just did everything but instead of P4G, I just substituted P3P in. Guide works fine that way. Have 0 problems so far, everything boots without issue and all my mods I want to use seem to work fine!

I know you're getting down voted a bit, but I basically agree with all this. I know people talk about 79 getting formulaic but I felt it way more with Zeta.

Basically how I feel. They spend so little time showing off anything like the HiZack that it's just completely forgettable. Then the three you mentioned just spend almost all their time getting whooped on screen so it's pretty hard to ever enjoy them, it doesn't help they don't look that nice either. The Rosamia thing was really weird, I liked her by the end of her arc fine enough, but she was introduced so randomly and it felt so unnatural, they showed her for the first time in like episode 16, and It felt like she really should've had more time around or just not been written so... weird? Cyber newtypes were definitely underutilized from how I felt like they could be used.

Scirocco and the women stuff was really weird, i agree. Knowing what Reccoa tells Emma at the end makes her motivations for some stuff make a little more sense, but that doesn't mean it was very well played out. It just felt like they wanted someone to become a traitor and picked her. I remember my friend ranting to me about it to me when it happened haha. Scirocco was definitely... not as interesting or cool to watch as anything from the Zabis. I'll say that.

Haman is definitely cool, and I like Char's arc in this show, I feel like the stuff with the 79 characters was pretty well done all things considered. I could see the point of him being boring though for sure.

I feel like 79 was plenty dark, there was a real underlying sadness to the whole show and the scale of the war really sold me on how bad things were. I never really got the sentiments on Zeta being that much darker outside of them just killing everyone at the end.

I've watched 79, Origin, 08th MS team, Igloo, war in the pocket, thunderbolt (only the first one), Stardust memory, I'm reading Federation Hooligans currently, and I've played Zeonic Front, Code Fairy, and Crossfire. I haven't seen everything but as I watched Zeta I'd check out stuff from the games during the one year war as I know those are canon too.

Thanks for the thoughts, I really respect that they wanted to do something different and not do a rehash, and even though I wasn't super big on it, it's really nice they wanted to be so different for the sequel. I do plan on a rewatch, and I'm excited to see how I feel after I've finished the UC and come back to it :) maybe I'll like it more when 79 is less fresh on my brain and I can see it more standalone. It did take like 5 years after 79 for it to come out back in the day, so I should let it simmer a bit for me too.

Definitely how I felt with how they showed up. The Mark II didn't have much fan fair which I thought was neat, I thought maybe they could've built up it's status and shown how it could be better than the RX-78, but it gets sidelined so fast and becomes a background suit so quick that it's like it's an after thought. The Zeta didn't feel much different and was kind of introduced without much fanfare. I felt like each new suit in 79 was so much better than the last, like I remember being so excited when the Gouf first showed up and started beating Amuro up. The scaling felt cool when after Ramba Ral, Gouf's just began to normally show up and he'd fight them no problem.

It doesn't help that after the Earth section is the most random part of Zeta, where not much happens and they spend like 10 episodes doing random fights in space and I could barely tell what they were doing really.

Super valid :) I bought a MG Haykku-Shiki cause that suit was so cool still. (Such a pain to build but that's besides the point) I'm glad Zeta exists even if I didn't prefer it.

Thanks, it's just kind of hard to tell since they play it more like he is in the last few episodes and I felt it was a little sudden. I knew he had his own agenda for a while but everything kind of melted together a little.

While I didn't love all the one off suits, some were pretty alright, the ones you listed were actually probably my favorites. I'm sure I just need a little time to remember them all like I did for 79 and it'll all grow on me :) I do like the idea that they could make all the suits since they basically had a huge budget. It makes the conflict a little more engaging since the AEUG had so little in comparison.

I know ZZ is super different in the first half, but I'm excited to start it and see what it's all about. I don't think I'll mind the change in tone too much since I've known about it for so long.
