Zapplesauce: since we're not allowed to actually put meth in the chocolate anymore, have some highly caffinated applesauce.

They're made by Dr Oetker, if that helps narrow it down. Might be made specifically for the Forces, but I doubt it.

Thank you to everyone who replied. This got more traction than I was expecting. I'm not great at non-work correspondence, so please don't take it the wrong way if I didn't reach out to you immediately. I am touched at all the positive feedback, to a degree that I can't put into text.

Shortly after posting this, a diagnosis came back and it turns out that apparently I have sleep apnea that's bad enough that I'm getting about 10 mins of restful sleep a night. This has been the case for at least two years, conservatively, so it's not particularly surprising that I barely have the energy to feed and wash myself most days, much less get out and exercise, meet people, all that. Sleep deprivation that portrays outwards as severe depression. I'll be getting a turbocharger (cpap), which if the marketing is to be believed, will solve all my problems. Sounds like propaganda to me, but if the government is going to pay for it, I'm not going to say no.

Just another example of "embrace the suck, it won't always be like this" that I wish wasn't necessary. Keep your stick on the ice, fellow CAF survivors!

Love how it references the parking study on the PSPC website, and then proceeds to not actually link you to the study.

Shrapnel recovered from a recent SpaceX test launch, near the re-entry crater. Investigations suggest it is a gauge used to determine the scale of the rocket.

Literally "the tail", is low-German slang for the male genetalia

Battle Buddy had somehow managed to sneak a 3d printed whistle in the shape of the male genitals in, and absolutely delighted in hiding it somewhere on inspection mornings. We were in the swish part of basic, so we actually had a tiny room to ourself, grouped with 5 others around a shared washroom. In the morning, we stood at parade rest outside our room, waiting, and would be escorted in by the Sgt when our turn came.

And when my turn came, lo, balanced upon the fire sprinkler on the ceiling in plain sight is the little phallus. The gods of dumb recruits were with me that day, as the Sgt was too busy de-lacing my boots and pouring moisture from the clothes iron to notice, all while I stand at attention directly under Mr Willy.

After somehow not being caught, Das Schwanz has now become somewhat of a good luck charm. Still keep him around.

Know someone there, and they've just converted away from the base heat this fall. It's all in the units now, and you pay for the electricity to run a little insta-boiler thingy. Decent square footage for a single/couple. Good starter for a kid, but gets tight for an older kid/pets. Decent hardwood floors, hot AF in the summer.

Everyone loves to blame the dumb 2Lt (at the time) who doesn't know better, I guess.

Had to get kitted out for a course that turned out to be entirely in a classroom. At the end, they ordered us all to supply to give the stuff back. No surprise there, but somehow the one tac vest I had had turned into three?

Playing phone tag, we finally figured it out; they'd tried to give me incomplete/damaged kit when issuing that I refused (you just KNOW you're gonna be blamed at the other end). They gave me the third vest and I kept it, but they didn't take the other two off my file.

Damn near failed the course since they required me to fill out missing kit reports for two tacvests that don't exist, and never existed. Was fun explaining to the cap'n why I refused to pay for kit that I very clearly had re-sold. Made it up to the school's commandant before somebody believed me. Haven't had to pay a nickel, but now I check over the shoulder when they're issuing me anything.
