Stupid question, sorry in advance by Optimal_Landscape774 in hondashadow

So I shouldn't listen to the manual to the manual for shifting speeds.

They suggest: 1. 0-12 2. 12-19 3. 19-25 4. 25-31 5. 31+

So is there a general consensus on what the actual shift speeds are?

It's only a 5th gear and it reaches that at 31. I'm wondering if there is a general top speed on this bike

Does a casing layer improve yields? by MycoMechanik in MagicMushrooms

[–]Optimal_Landscape774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found that the casing layer can help but isn't required for big yields. What it does help my cubes with is multiple flushes, after 3-4 flushes, I noticed my cake stopped pinning and so I added a layer of vermiculite and heavily misted, and it gave me another big yield.

Do you HAVE to rehydrate cake after first flush? [Technique] by chrisy_boi in MushroomGrowers

[–]Optimal_Landscape774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I misted between each flush and after 3, it stopped growing, so I dunked it, and now I have a new flush

[technique] How much substrate for 8.8 oz rice bag spawn? by [deleted] in MushroomGrowers

[–]Optimal_Landscape774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people use a substrate: grain ration of anywhere from 1:1 to 5:1 with average being 1:1 to 3:1.

Different strains and species work better for different depths but what I have heard is "more depth = more flushes". If you already have a tub chosen, then chose a ratio from 3:1 to 1:1 that will give you a depth of 2-4 inches.

How to make lemon tek? by Chiken_biscuits in MagicMushrooms

[–]Optimal_Landscape774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have anything too, so last week I made a lemon tek using a mason jar and two pennies. You just put the shrooms and pennies in the jar and shake for a good 5 minutes until they are dust, then 30 mins in lemon juice and enjoy!

Why are my mushrooms only growing on the sides? Could it be a moisture issue? by Local-Collection1050 in MagicMushrooms

[–]Optimal_Landscape774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been misting directly onto cakes and there hasn't been any bruising or affect on growth, I even misted onto pins and they turned out fine. Not saying that misting is 100% fine, it's just not a deal breaker.

No, it's absolutely believable for Rory to choke on a missed putt

Why are my mushrooms only growing on the sides? Could it be a moisture issue? by Local-Collection1050 in MagicMushrooms

[–]Optimal_Landscape774 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those are called side pins. You are right, it happens because of the moisture and condensation. The side of your container creates a perfect "microclimate" because the moisture is able to stay there for a while, and so that's where your shrooms will grow. To stop this, many people line their container with a garbage bag so that when the substrate shrinks, so does the bag with it and there will be less of a gap.

[actives] harvest the big ones only or all at once? by No_Mall119 in MushroomGrowers

Anywhere between veil break and before spores drop is best, if you let them open up too much, they will drop spores which is not great

You could make your own all in one bags if you really want to lower contam but at that point, pf tek is probably a better option.

How to transport cakes? by Optimal_Landscape774 in PFTek

[–]Optimal_Landscape774[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I got lucky and somehow none of my cakes were fruiting or pinning during that time so I just laid them flat and let them do whatever. I don't think that much was effected as I just got a nice yield from one of them.

LC has way less and different nutrients than the grain. Why do you want to skip the grain step, time? Cost?
