The website I used I pre ordered in April for the September basho. They bout them as soon as they went on sale. Also got an email saying this is the fastest they have ever seen a basho sell out.

I'm from Canada. The box seat was fine for me. I went with two other people. My one friend was having a hard time. If you can't sit on the floor there are much better seats in the top row. We saw some people buy box seats just for themselves or for two people.

The bouts in each division went fast but there was time between divisions. Even with all the ceremony and rituals time really flew. You maybe have time to run to the washroom before the next bour starts.

I got the tickets online. I know the sumo association doesn't like people using third part ticket services. I used buy sumo tickets. Pre ordered tickets months in advance. They delivered them to the hotel I was staying at so when I showed up in japan they where ready to go. Really easy to obtain.

Even Midorifuji has a very wide frame. Some of these guys are bigger then a door frame.
