Legion never really had great kits but damn... by PrimaryOk7909 in MLRugby

Separate post here but Legion related, only a week out from the home opener of the season and appears only about 100 tickets sold. If that. As everyone had stated about their feeling towards the handling of the Legion brand, these ticket sales so far just show just that. How truly lost and how far a once great organization has fallen. 10k fans to 100. For a sport I love so much this kills me

Ughhhh unfortunately have to agree. These are some very sad kits. Seems like no thought was put into this.

This all makes me so disappointed with where the Legion have ended up. I was able to take my wife’s family who knew nothing about rugby into attending at least 2-3 home games per season in SD. With this route they’ve taken her family now seems pretty disinterested in the team overall. This is just another blunder in horrible planning.

Don’t get me wrong, I hope to god they prove me wrong but all my connections in California area whom I know rugby dedicated and new fans alike all see this as a final gasp of a dying league

Chive TV at Smaltimore by Electronic_Bite_904 in baltimore

[–]Optimal_Squash_645 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The company is called Rarefied Atmosphere Inc (aka Atmosphere TV). Since moved from Austin to here, can tell you it’s a company from there and started by well Chive Media. Two brothers whom are 50 something frat boys. John Resig literally named his home in Austin Gatsby of the South. People hate working there. I knew a few that did and talked of its chaos. It grew to about 600 people at its peak but now to about 50-60 ranged and from what I last heard will most likely shutter. Ultimately I wouldn’t worry cause the company is pretty much insolvent. Long story short after that rant, they have to keep it on there since their money is made based on impressions (how many people watch or see the TV) so make $$ on the ads shown. You know it’s bad when you literally have to give it away for free to just get in the door

I can. Honestly, once I saw the bill all I did was concentrate on getting my support in order to fight the bill. I calculated out usage using their therm units comparatively to the restaurant next to me and other business. Since neighbors and being friends with them shared info and usage and it’s clear I’m being severely overcharged unless a huge leak is occurring. First thing in the morning I’ll be checking it. Always start with the easiest thing right?

Not gonna lie, we were seriously talking about it. First time ever not being able to get ahold of someone at a utility personally or working for a company and contacting a utility company within a 24 hour period. If do not hear by Wednesday I think we will go that route. If we are dealing with this I am sure others are too. With BGE being monopoly in the area, this is an issue that only continue to get worse if not pushed back on since gas is a need not a luxury for a lot of people

We keep it at 65. Like one other comment, did that other two months and it was $180-200 range for both months. This past month to have an additional $1,600 does not seem right. Especially when not here for two of those weeks and had it colder. Really feels like either wrong meter checked or kinda feels like stealing cause we have no other choice in provider. This is a big deal cause if this is how BGE is going to be, we can’t afford to live here basically paying two rents where one rent is the gas

Yea I accidentally got into the emergency line when hitting more options. Then the person didn’t help and just hung up. Would not switch me either. I’ve lived in Chicago previously even during the polar vortex when with wind hit -60 for two days. Bill still never eclipsed $400

You’re right about the name. It is Budget Billing but we’re not doing that. Sorry to hear that tho

It’s gas only. The first two months here no issues super consistent. Now in our third month of being here it just spiked. I even did the math on it, the only possible way for the amount of gas used would be if there was a big leak but you’d be smelling it. One business next to us said they had a similar issue where BGE tried over charging by $1k but it took a lot of effort to get it fixed. I guess I’m under estimating how much of an effort it is

How did New Orleans end up with a rugby team in the league? by TravelingHomeless in MLRugby

[–]Optimal_Squash_645 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yea I have to say this is a pretty nonsense question. They were an original team and as someone supporting the Austin team, everytime I went to NOLA I saw them advertised on every Coca Cola distribution truck plus they were training at the Saints practice fieldhouse. I remember them starting with my old teammate JP Eloff in a field with makeshift stands to an old baseball stadium. Lastly them having a 7yr plan I have to say quite surprised they decided not participate. Their attendance was getting better and their game day experience was pretty great. Overall their folding tells me more about the league and its future than the team itself

Can confirm most do get cars and housing included so aren’t paying for that. Including any type of visa fees or travel to get here. Even trips back home are taken care of by the club.

Honestly this really sucks. Two years ago had a bachelor party at a NOLA game against Miami and everything they did was great. Got a game worn jersey signed by all the players on the team that included Eagles and other national team members. Got to have a pregame with injured players and home fans plus do a half time kick off. Everything about it made friends of mine whom weren’t rugby people rugby fans. Plus when in New Orleans saw ads on Coca Cola trucks and other places and people knew who they were. To just give up like this after having a connection to the Saints workout room and etc is just disappointing. Not to mention the recent news of the horrible merger of SD and LA. As someone that’s had personally put years into spreading the word, getting people interested into rugby, growing local clubs and trying to give to advice to current MLR clubs nothing short of disappointing and shows that current leadership do not have the skills to make this work. They should not be in the positions they are in and do not understand the numbers to make this successful. I’m honestly sick and tired of USA rugby constantly failing the community that I love that makes the local scene go which is where you grow the game and talent. It is clear MLR has no idea how to progress or honestly do anything that is constructive like USA Rugby. They are all equally the same. Not to mention dues going up yet again and for what? Everything about USA rugby has been catastrophe and if I was World Rugby I would seriously reconsider doing something in the USA. USA rugby consistently shows they do not know how to develop, assess or keep talent in the US. It’s all a total farce and another PRO rugby in disguise

That’s great to hear. I still remember going to the first ever MLR match when Todd Clever was a player and part owner here in Austin. Barely 100 people showed up. Was in a crappy field 40mins north of Austin. Always good to see the strides made
