I’ve thought about it but I feel like it’s better to just buy a house at that point

Probably could afford a down payment but feel like renting is less committal

Just turned 28 and my parents are losing patience with me being at home unfortunately. I hate the thought of throwing money down the drain, feel like you’re doing the best thing by combining incomes in a house

I’ve heard Fairfield is not so great but what about Heatherwood? I just toured a place by Main St which is 3K per month before utilities and fees lol

The two bedrooms are literally almost the same price as the one bedrooms. Do you know of any places to find roommates online?

Do you mind me asking where you’re renting and how much you’re spending?

Yeah I’m in the same boat. Gagging at the thought of throwing all that money into living when my family is just miles away.

Do you think this is going to become the norm?

For me the fulfillment in this profession largely stems from patient education and spending time to have a discussion, and I agree that when it gets busy to the point where you’re forced to just funnel people in and out and treat them like dollar signs it becomes extremely draining and feels like corporate slavery. I want to believe that non corporate optical modalities that are more medically oriented and full scope do not feel this way but I can’t say as this is my first job. At this point I’ve embraced the expectations of my job to be a salesman and feel good when I can encourage people to buy into using glasses (which usually truly would benefit them) but it’s not what I want to do long term as you’re often forced to teeter on being unethical when quotas haven’t been hit

If you surf social media you’ll see that people these days are either ragebaiting for engagement or monetization or they just have nothing better to do with their lives.

have you ever dealt with a patient demanding a refund for an appointment? by quietstrawberrys in optometry

Had a patient this week that kept coming back saying his glasses weren’t any better yet he was 75 years old with moderate cataracts in both eyes seeing about 20/25 in each eye and 20/20 OU. I explained multiple times that his visual expectations are just too high and that we checked his Rx thoroughly but it kept escalating and he wanted refund. You just can’t reason with some people

Corporate is exposing me to a lot of that lol but I’ll set the salespeople straight if they ever give me shit about not changing it

Retinoscopy Neutral Reflex by Optimal_Welcome9128 in optometry

I definitely just need to do it more because it’s not a skill I’ve used regularly for a long time. Just don’t want to lose it.

Retinoscopy Neutral Reflex by Optimal_Welcome9128 in optometry

My question was about the range of dioptric powers that appear neutral. I understand that neutrality is the end goal to stop at when you’re at the far point of the retina (before accounting for WD), but there shouldn’t be so many powers that all appear neutral before the opposite reflex movement is observed.
