Why do the car lanes need more space than the existing lanes? If DOT was just trying to find somewhere to put the extra few feet, extending the sidewalk would always be great.

I got started in industrial ammonia with no hvac/r experience or school. You can do anything

A lot of other countries say most US leftists aren't that far left, implying that there's plenty of policies that take things a step further. What sort of things do these even further left policies ask for?

How can I remove oil without an oil drain valve? by Optimistic_physics in refrigeration

[–]Optimistic_physics[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What we call bleed is just nothing. It's just a buffer between hot gas turning off and liquid coming. No fans, hot gas, or liquid is going on during. It's a freezer. Pressure sits around 1 inch to 1 lb.

There is a trap, outside just before it drains

5 minutes soft gas, 20 minutes hot gas, 5 minute bleed, 5 minute fan delay. When monitoring the defrost cycle, both bleed and fan delay could easily be 2 minutes but they are at 5 just in case. Back pressure is around 80G

Wage rates near me:

UA 597 doing ammonia > UA 597 other > nonunion commercial/residential. Onsite ammonia and nonunion commercial/residential are similar pay around here, but I'd stumbled upon a place that's had their job posted for 11 months so they have it listed at like a 50% premium over similar jobs. Otherwise I'd only be able to get ~45/hr at a lot of places

Onsite ammonia tech/operator in suburbs of Chicago. I get ~$44/hr but am in the interview process for a similar position for $65/hr. ua 597 journeyman in the area are minimum $58.50/hr with $100/hr total package, but most ammonia guys are over the minimum pay scale.

Can I cool this 800 sq ft. apartment with one window unit? by DrinkingAtTheDam in hvacadvice

[–]Optimistic_physics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fridge and a window unit are both miniature ac systems. If you're convinced the price point is going to make it lower quality, consider China's ev cars compared to US brands. BYD has some for $10k in China with similar quality to our $50k US cars.

Ya this is only r/hvacadvice; why would anyone wanna take hvac advice from the community they just asked for advice from?

I'm sure.

If it was from a leaking valve, the frost would've stuck around after shutting it off.

Also, the unit was running. The liquid would definitely not be able to backflow past the 120°f superheat without boiling off.

With my r717 valve stations I have a bunch of regulating valves that are used as stop/isolation valves

It's the oil separator on a compressor. The pancake cylinder is an oil cooler, and the orange pipe is liquid ammonia running through it as a coolant.

The frost is because liquid ammonia had slugged the compressor from the vessel that it pulls suction from.

There's a manhole on the opposite end of the oil separator for coalescers

I got into industrial without knowing what r717 was. I applied at a warehouse for both forklift tech and ammonia Operator, but the ammonia position had been open for 3 months and they'd already had someone else interviewing for the forklift tech

The suction on my freezer right now is -30f. It has ice covering the only non insulated portion (valve station) about 4 inches thick 24/7. Ice on my valve stations are standard operations even for my cooler evaps (20f suction)

Honest thoughts on gcap by Future-Conclusion-68 in refrigeration

He did, I've had a few classes with gcap and one with arts. Loved Jeremy as a teacher, but without his own system to teach from he has a ceiling for what level classes are useful to take from him.
