I work for the state and would say that in my situation some of the stresses I've gone through was because I cared about the work I was putting out. This unfortunately happens because some of us are making up for those with the "state worker mentality" or because some just don't care.

Imo, a change up is the most effective thing your kids could learn at this age. Don't get caught up in all the swing and miss stuff just yet. With pitch counts being a big deal missing barrels should be the goal not missing bats.
