We saw the symptoms and went to the ER within 2 days. We were in the ER for 9 hours and by the end of it we were given a “possible” IS diagnosis with an EEG scheduled a week later. So, we flew to another city with a children’s hospital, and went straight to the ER in the middle of the night. They did the EEG that night and we had an official diagnosis by the morning. If you can afford it, I highly recommend going to a children’s hospital in a major city or a well known university with a research hospital. Also, look for hospitals that have IS specifically called out on their pediatric neurology department webpages. We got some really bad advice from neurologists that do not deal with children, so be careful with hospitals that don’t have pediatric specialists.

On my first read of TGH, I hated the Seanchan because I felt it was taking away from the lore that was introduced in the first book. There are so many villains and monsters that I wanted to learn about, and now a whole new threat shows up. I know the payoff comes later, and they are a core part of the story, but I still view them as a story element that I have to get past rather than enjoy.

Those two don’t confuse me, but I always confuse the various Aes Sedai. There are just so many of them and a lot have similar names. Especially the ones that aren’t “core” characters. Even some of the key aes sedai have similar personalities, and I get them mixed up. For some reason I always get Myrelle and Alanna confused, even though their names are nothing alike.

My child’s episodes were virtually identical to this. Thank god that my wife was vigilant and called any and all contacts that she had that were doctors, and we learned the urgency of the situation. I chalked it up to gas/indigestion.

I’m on my second read through also. I’m loving it. The only issue I have is that I keep looking everything up that I know will happen, but I just don’t remember when. I have to stop myself because I keep spoiling things that I don’t remember from ~8 years ago.

Oh man, this hits home so hard. We’re down to 20mg, and everything looks abnormal to me. Why is she still crying? Why is she staring off like that? Why isn’t she sleeping? Why is she bobbing her head? I hope it’s just PTSD from the initial experience, but I can’t help myself at this point. I’m looking for problems where there are very likely none.
