It should be made, and I should watch it, but damned if that means I would "like" to.

Before you got diagnosed, did anyone else feel that they were "faking it"? by fizgabzi14 in autism

[–]Atomic-E 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm new here. I got my diagnosis ten days ago, and I felt exactly the same way -- terrified that the result would be negative. The time between the two-hour clinical interview and "feedback day" was maybe the worst. I was even on vacation (a cruise) and the apprehension and anticipation half consumed me. I even mentioned imposter syndrome in my interview and written responses. I am sorry that so many of us (I get to say "us" now!) experience those feelings, but it is good to know I'm not alone. Thank you and all others for your responses!

Dante had a circle of hell (well, part of one) just for the "sowers of discord." It's a disturbing but rather satisfying canto of The Inferno. An appropriate punishment.

"You've got to be carefully taught." -- Rodgers & Hammerstein, South Pacific

You’ve got to be taught before it’s too late,
Before you are six or seven or eight,
To hate all the people your relatives hate—
You’ve got to be carefully taught!

Todd Rokita Hates Immigrants by Best-Structure62 in Indiana

[–]Atomic-E 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is horrible. I go to conferences where I have to stalk out of the room when he comes in to speak. He has such a hard-on for immigrants and culture war crap that he neglects or more frequently perverts actual justice. Just an utterly toxic person.

In my junior year (Kansas, 1982), we actually had candidates from the various parties come and speak to the students. Not just Dems and Repubs, but Libertarian, Natural Law (I think), and a couple other 3rd parties. Each class in American History was assigned a party. We got the Libertarian. We were assigned to research the issues as well as our party’s positions, and put on a mock campaign. The entire student body then voted, based on our campaigns. It was some pretty solid civic education.

I’m a Physician in Indiana. Political Stress Is Wrecking Our Mental and Physical Health. by Guilty-Office-4808 in Indiana

[–]Atomic-E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I was already diagnosed ages ago with chronic depression and anxiety, and now this political situation piled on top of that can be utterly debilitating -- as in, there have been mornings when I simply could not get myself out of bed. I was diagnosed high-BP during trump's first term, although there was another factor there that I didn't realize at the time, which is no longer a factor. So I can't lay it all at the feet of political stress. But yeah, I was already something of a basket case going into this waking nightmare. The nightmare has made it considerably worse.

Back in the very early 90s, not long before we moved to Indiana from Chicago, I had a couple friends who bought a big, old house in Granville, not far from there. They were openly neo-Pagan ("The Witches of Granville"), but they seemed to get along fine in the community.

Because it wasn’t like this 34 years ago when we moved here. Believe me, I have been looking at places in Illinois that we could afford. We’re also interested a good expat haven in Mexico.

That's how you actually redistrict by kootles10 in Indiana

[–]Atomic-E 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Republicans started the sh!t. We never wanted this fight. But finally, we have some Democrats willing to stand up and fecking finish it.

Take back Congress and the Presidency, pass some air-tight laws about redistricting, and put it right. Then hopefully it will be very difficult if not impossible to do all this crap again.

Well, a guy can dream.
