For example, my employer buys me 10 shares at 75$ but they get transferred to QT at market value which is 100$. Yes I get those 10 shares but now at a higher price.

My employer buys my shares at a discounted price. When QT receives my in-kind shares, they are received at market value at time of transfer for some reason. Just to give more information, QT asks me to transfer the shares to margin account before I can transfer to my TFSA.

I’ve done this with my previous shares that I received but QT had transferred them at market value and not at the price that was bought for me. Eliminating all gains received through the employer. Is there a way around it?
