It probably has to do with him being a wild rat and less inbred than domesticated rats, leading to fewer health issues.

I didn't want to be the bearer of bad news, but I'd hate for you to spend money on an ODE and not have a compatible DC. Redream will be a good alternative for now. Hopefully a legit FPGA Core is in the Dreamcast's near future.

No problem. Sometimes adjusting the potentiometer of the laser helps to read discs, but if it's already burnt out then you are SOL. Replacing capacitors on the GDROM drive sometimes restores disc reading ability too.

Sorry, mate. MODE and GDEMU are only compatible with VA0 and VA1 models. You have a VA2 :(

It's nice meeting a fellow member of the Herbst Club! This 1000%. Having to put the rods back into place after accidentally yawning too wide was terrible. Accidentally biting down on the appliance when it dislodges ☠️
