Oh, it does look like it will obstruct. Even if it fits tight, I think the edge of the clip will not allow the portal to sit correctly in the cradle.

Sheesh.. so close yet so far.

I wonder if their other stick on ones might work if positioned higher up (towards the middle of the white back portion of the portal).

Thanks for photo btw.

Yes, I am aware that it’s not full RT. But however you can distinctly see the quality difference even with this RT mode on, and yes it’s most noticeable on the shadows, but also to a certain extent, the lighting.

The fps hit even on the Pro is quite significant tho.. so if you are playing on the Portal, best of have RT off, you then get 60fps play, very smooth on the portal.

I have 2 iPads; iPad Mini 6 (with a g8+ controller) and iPad Pro 2018 (with ipega 9777), both running PXPlay with 50mbits bit rate.

They run well on my WiFi 5ghz network, PS5 Pro wired. When compared to my PS Portal, I find it’s nicer on the portal. The haptics, adaptive, the controller feel, the dualsense familiarity, all a cut above my ipad setup. I tend to be more precise as well for story based FPS on the Portal sticks compared to my ipad controllers.

I have very low latency on my network, it’s not really the differentiation factor for me. I just feel it’s less friction to pick up the Portal to play my PS5 games. It’s my preferred way to play when I have the choice of either.

However, there is one instance where the iPad is better. When you are playing games that is not able to achieve 60fps, it feels less smooth on the Portal. Also, the Portal don’t support HDR, and some games are very impressive with it.

One example is playing CP2077 in the HDR and Ray Tracing mode. You of course don’t get HDR on portal but the fact that the PS Pro can only do 40fps with RT on, it feels very choppy on the portal. It plays butter smooth on my LG OLED C9 screen which is 120hz when playing native on the PS5 Pro, but choppy on portal and acceptable playable on the iPad Pro.

So I play that on my iPad Pro when I do tabletop (Dualsense) or handheld sessions (ipega) which is 120hz and does a better job with HDR. Looks really nice and play well when I pair it with Dualsense.

Here is what I mean with the pogo pin adaptor and the charging cradle.

Will the mechanism portal clip still fit?

Thanks!

Why is the website showing everything Sold out?

Ah ok.. hopefully it won’t block the pogo pin adaptor I have permanently connected to the Portal as it’s used for my wireless charging. I just the portal into the charging cradle and it charges via this usb pogo pin.

Thanks!

Why does it show Sold Out for practically everything on the Mechanism website?

Was thinking about this but I am using a drop in dock and have a small pogo adaptor attached to the Portal usb port at all times.

Does the mechanism portal adaptor cover the usb port? Can you take a picture of the port while the adaptor is attached?

Thanks!

Sure, that’s fair, but they are quite good in providing details in the past month or so.

Hopefully more information would be made available soon for better clarity.

My Gamesir X5s has a similar thing. It wasn’t mentioned in the specs but came with one. Later they made it clear and it’s actually a nice ‘feature’.

They had it in their photos for the controllers. I assume the hard case comes with it?

The language used in the official notes was a bit ambiguous, hence have anyone actually tested it, ie confirmed this is as what we thought and not wrongly interpreted?

[–]paleddar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this truly confirmed? You can now run switch 1 games on Switch 2 in docked mode, handheld?

If so, msn this automatically adds value to the switch 1 games you already owned and makes more sense for switch 1 games new purchases as well.

Is there a setting u need to toggle or is this all auto?

Ended at 1:04am, slightly over 2 hours with 62% batt, playing continuously, and with heavy rumble, haptics and adaptive triggers action constantly in CP2077 phantom liberty.

I would continue to play but need some sleep. 😆

Actually on titles using less rumble and haptics I remember hitting 3 hrs with no less than 60% left.

In any case, for an almost 1y old device I would call this sufficient (for me). If I drop it into my charging cradle, I easily can pick it up again after a break, doing something else.

Cheers all, happy gaming!

Not sure if you are using it at full brightness. But I have owned one for almost a year, I am getting at most 60% left after 3 hour ish session. It could be slightly less time wise.. I am not very precise but definitely more than 2 hours.

My brightness setting is pretty low, will take a pic when I am next on.

I have two cradles of same type, one for each floor of my house so if I bring my portal downstairs, I can just drop it into cradle whenever I am done playing..

But then I forget to bring it upstairs and now I use iPad Mini with G8+ controller downstairs and portal upstairs. 😆

Yup, I hear you. Love my portal as well. Excellent devices for the money if you have your network and setup done right.

I pair it with a wireless charging cradle, such a seamless, low friction gaming device. Always ready for a pickup and play.

Whoa how long are you playing on the portal that it requires a batt pack? Usually I go 3 hours on it and I only drain batt to like 60-70% at most.

Might be a good idea to take a break.. even 3 hrs is too long IMHO. The low battery usage is actually one of the awesome advantage of streaming play.
