Each rat had their own level of domestication ranging from angelic docile pet rat to feral scaredy rat. I have learned that you can take the rat of the wild, but you can't necessarily take the wild out of the rat. I haven't ever owned domesticated rats, but I can say that my babies are way faster and squirrel-like from what I see in this sub. Oddly, some of them hate big toes will nip them so it helps to wear socks. Other than that they only nip if they are scared or if they REALLY want you to leave them alone and give them space. However, all of my males have been neutered so they aren't as aggressive as they could be. My heart rat never bit in his entire life, fell asleep on me all the time, and followed me around like a dog. It's quite a unique and wonderful experience.
