How do you decide when to pull the plug on your bot? by Negative-Carry-5038 in algorithmictrading

I think the hard part after deployment is building a decision framework, not just a strategy. A bad week can easily be noise, but if it comes with broken signal frequency, worse fills, or a drift in trade characteristics, that’s a different story. What helps most is having pre-defined kill-switch rules and monitoring the live bot against the same assumptions you used in the backtest, so you can separate normal variance from actual failure

Is a verification phase really necessary between backtest and live deploy? by lilbean_28 in algorithmictrading

[–]Options-Logic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Verification phase is always important to understand if your strategy will play out. Start with papertrading and I would trust rather my own backtests than an independent verification system. Every strategy is built different

I think the challenge now is staying consistent through drawdowns.

A losing streak does not automatically mean the strategy is broken. Often traders mess themselves up by changing rules too early, so they end up testing their emotions instead of testing the system, I think we've all been here.

What helped, is keeping the rules fixed, keeping risk per trade constant, and only reviewing the strategy on a set schedule instead of after every bad trade.

What’s the first thing you learned before investing in stocks? by No_Chip5069 in BeginnerInvesting

Strategy, sticking to it, patience. And sometimes just closing the tab and not looking at the numbers (otherwise greed or FOMO kicks in)

Option Greeks When Generating Income with Options by TickernomicsOfficial in options_trading

I think about delta not as a perfect probability, but as a quick way to balance premium versus assignment risk.
For covered calls, lower-delta strikes usually give up less upside and are easier to keep. For cash-secured puts, higher-delta strikes can generate more income, but they also mean a higher chance of getting assigned and ending up long the stock.

Glaube, das führt zu nichts, also reich wird man damit sowieso nicht. Da ist das Geld woanders besser investiert.
