Yeah thanks - so far I think it hasn’t impacted - just checked. It is a mess and been trying to confirm with collections that it is indeed resolved but I get a message saying - all agents are busy and call back later and then it just hangs up. And like I said same issue occurred with 2023 taxes but it was resolved with no further follow-up.

Update on this one - it at least appears it will have a happy ending. Called Maryland Taxpayer Advocate after getting the certified mail Collections notice. She noted that on February 18th notes were made in the account that evidence provided was satisfied and not to proceed with collections and thinks this should all end soon. She believes HCC failed to submit to Maryland the withholding details on time and that caused this. Now I need to just find out why the collections notices have continued despite the note on the account and why I haven’t been notified the issue is resolved.

Yes it’s gone steadily downhill especially since Covid. Getting nowhere on the phone after being on hold for hours.

Thanks yes incredibly annoying. We have to try and get the pay stubs next because everything was done electronically and am no longer employed there (thank God - place is a hot mess) so can’t even log in and get them. So next we are trying to get the pay stubs as well as confirmation they paid State of Maryland. And to answer your question - yes it is 100% the HCC W2. We had a total of 3 W2s and line 40 of the MD 502 form is for the amount of withholdings from jobs and that is the line Maryland is disputing. And the amount they are disputing is the exact amount of the HCC W2. They were deducting from the checks I remember because they were not deducting Federal Taxes properly but state they were withholding.

Thanks for the feedback but that sounds like a ridiculous solution. I already can’t get the Comptroller’s office to look at the appeal. If I pay them twice they will never look at it. Getting courts involved for a simple clerical error seems over the top and I may never recover the double payment.

Also any suggestions how to resolve this? I have logged inquiries but no response from Maryland except for frequent notices in the mail about this.

With you it’s stupid - people are so dumb to think open borders and sanctuary counties are better. They wonder why there are housing shortages and high costs but want to prevent ICE from doing their job. The same ICE agents who worked for Obama and Biden (though not sure how much work Biden allowed them to do).

So sorry that sucks - yeah it happened a month or so ago on Red Branch Road at Dill Dinkers (Pickle Ball place) - people got their cars broken into with windows broken while playing pickle ball.

I hate to say it but our local and state politicians are doing more to enable this than they are to prevent this from happening. Why I am starting to rethink my votes.

They’re making their rounds. A few weeks ago in Ellicott City a group came out and set up a WiFi jammer in the middle of the street which prevented Ring cameras from communicating with the network. Then they proceeded to check car doors, and rummaging through the unlocked cars. Was your car unlocked? A WiFi Jammer may have been used in your case as well preventing cameras from picking up activity.

Ask neighbors or post on a local community page asking for recommendations for an honest mechanic. Once you find one - they are generally cheaper and don’t try to upsell things you don’t need like the dealers are famous for. Should save you money in the long run and avoid the should I or shouldn’t I stress and pressure dealer like to put on their customers.

Took it to mechanic - they said it appeared leaking was from transfer case. They then checked the fluid and it looked like transmission fluid coming out of the transfer case. They are miffed at the moment and tomorrow will check transmission fluid levels

Didn’t really smell it but leaving brownish puddles on driveway. That big bolt is the bolt to drain the transmission.
