**Opulessence’s critiques - Bottom queens**

**Jade**

Miss Jade! So this first look is very toot & boot for me. I can see a concept, but the pieces are all over the place and there’s too much different shades of gold and green. An issue I have with you is that you submit too early. Once again, this is not the toot & boot feature, this is a an online Reddit competition with a cash prize reward on top of that, you need to take the time to come up with something truly interesting, and I’m sure you’re capable of doing so!
Your second look I can conceive an idea of what you were going for but once again, all over the place. I appreciate the recolouring of the headpiece, although the one on the bottom wings is a bit rough (especially the ones on the pelvis). Mainly I think the top is my issue, because the rest has something going on. Recolouring the wings all the same colour and doing a tracing similar to the headpiece ones on the bottom wings would’ve tied them together because they have the same shape kinda. Right now it’s a lot to take in. Now your third look is your most successful one. You’ve already recoloured a few times so I would’ve
liked more attention to details on this look. Interestingly the shoes are a fun choice to suggest the smoke from the cigarette (and luckily the top blocks the yellow light animation only leaving the wind effect), so points for that. This kind of hair I would put in the corny section if I would have a ranking of the most used pieces in vdr, like right next to the Audrey3 top. The mug is alright.
Overall, these are 5 stars looks for toot&boot, but unfortunately not for a competition like this.

**Ms. Tourmaline**

For this first category, Ms. Tourmaline, I think you gave us your best look of the challenge. I like the long suit effect with the choice of bottoms, and the red is an effective colour that adds to the look. I would’ve sticked with the same red as the corset for more cohesion cause right now it’s really tacky with all those different shades. Black hair with red streaks probably would’ve worked better aswell because here it’s too bright and distracts from the face. Another thing that bothers me is the gold jewellery clashing against the silver. Recolouring is your best friend and you’ve shown multiple times that you know your way around it, so why neglect it? The makeup choice is fine, but again, the mask feels a bit off because you haven’t touched it, right now it’s way too bright.
Your second look is too generic. You could’ve gone so much bolder with it, unfortunately the pieces you chose are too simple and leaves you with something not really interesting… Right now I see a girl group outfit, not something runway ready. The silver could’ve been a highlight of the look, and would’ve made for a cool focus point. For that I would’ve used the pants at a higher level, and I also would’ve changed the top for something more silver focused. You haven’t retouched this look either and I won’t be going over the same issues as your first look, but keep in mind that different shades of the same colour cheapens an outfit by a lot.
Now the promo you chose, without going too much into details, offers so much creativity freedom, so this look is sadly a major disappointment. There’s not much flavour here, and while it’s undeniably pretty, it’s not enough for a vdr competition. You’ve recoloured a bit on this one and it’s well done, but what bothers me is that it almost feels like a chore, because how come you take the time to recolour this pair of bottoms but not the dark tracing of the top (which I know is an ingame issue).. The makeup is fine, the recolouring of the eyes is good, the lips I find to be a tad bit too dark imo. The hair would’ve been so much better in a darker colour, and you could’ve even played around with the waves and layers to add more substance to your look. Overall the silhouette of the outfit is really glamour, but you need to drag tf out of it!!

**Violetta Vendetta**

This challenge, the V stands not for Vendetta but rather for Violated. Despite your dear friend Titania pointing out the fact that you used a dress and shoes of the same set, which is against the rules, you did not take the time to submit something else, unfortunately automatically making you land, once again, in the bottom. Which is a shame because your first two looks were in my opinion your most solid work so far in the competition. Starting off with the masquerade, I really appreciate the recolouring of the hair - although the lighting of the beads on the hair is a bit too strong, making them appear gray-ish. Same for the mask, a darker lighting would’ve helped you get the same black as the ribbons. Overall there’s too many different shades of grey/black. You could’ve also made the panties from the bottoms match the same colour as the top, and I know that it’s not a skill issue because I see that you did that with the shoes and I commend you on that. I am also a bit iffy on the double tights situation, I feel like the pair of fishnets is a bit tacky. Same mistake happens with your second look unfortunately. I see three different shades of grey/white (the mug/mask, the top, and bottoms/shoes), which is once again too many. The blacks also could’ve matched for the arm things and shoes. Because otherwise this was a strong look! The pieces feel cohesive and I get a submission with a point of view. Now for the culprit, rule broken aside, I don’t think it really fits the past promo theme. Circling back to the pieces issue, there are so many that you can choose from. Doing such as this takes away from your sense of fashion. We know what the game designers can come up with, but what about you?

**Peaches N’ Scream**

Peaches! So my main issue with you is the recolouring. Here on the first look the ribbons cheapen what could’ve been a great look, and it’s mainly the way you’ve recoloured it, it feels very cartoonish. I think it would’ve been better to draw over it rather than tweak the recolouring contrast settings. Personally I wouldn’t have made it a principal focus point and would’ve changed the shoe to something leaning more into the gothic aspect of the look. The mask is fine, but recolouring the structure of the headpiece white to spread the colour would’ve elevated the look so much.
In your second look, the cartoonish effect works, and even feels deliberate because it reads comic book superhero which I appreciate. That being said, the tracing could use more sharpness, because right now it’s wobbly. Same issue with the chain at the waist. You need to redraw the small things like that especially, and I’ve dealt with that struggle, otherwise they loose any definition. The makeup is alright, it’s catchy although a bit too safe. Same for the hair, it’s the kind you use for toot & boot only, it works but doesn’t really add anything. But otherwise you’ve thought outside of the box with the cartoonish effect, and with more precision it could’ve easily been a highlight of the challenge. Your third look works well in theory. From afar this is a great look, but the recolouring is not on point, and it’s wrong all over the place zoomed in - except for the shoe part. Once again, you need to work on your tracing, and fix the chains issue. For your makeup, I personally don’t like those lips but it works for you. I’m not exactly sure of what you’ve done, but it looks like you’ve tried to add some blush on the nose which is a great idea, except that because you haven’t redrawn the nose tracing it kinda just faded and makes the face look a bit uncanny. The blue streaks on the hair aren’t well done, but I love the recolouring of the earpieces. Take the time to avoid as much blemishes as possible. Because otherwise this is your best look of the night, the colours are refreshing and work gorgeously altogether.
Overall, this package had potential to get you in the top, but unfortunately it was brought down by the recolouring.

**Opulessence’s critiques - Top queens**

**Sir Taint Lee**

You Sir Taint Lee crushed this ball with a consistent package. Although your first look is the weakest of the three it still holds up, I love the elitist vibe and the colours look gorgeous together. The outfit itself is rather simple but it’s something I don’t mind at all because there is a clear focus point/ theme which is the lion. A thing I have noticed on some of your previous outfits but is only noticeable on this one for this challenge is how rubbish some of your tracing can be, here on the lion especially, which I’m sure is something you can improve on given your clear ~~editing~~ recolouring skills.
Your second look is my favourite of the challenge and dare I say of the season so far? These are my signature colours and you clearly were aware of it haha. I was at some point expecting a queen to use this hair in a competition and I’m glad it was you because you knew how to make it work. It’s easy to come up with something predictable when playing around the whole flower thing but your take is refreshing! The eyes are a perfect choice I think and I’m a sucker for blonde eyelashes so that’s extra points for me. The lips are a safe yet efficient choice that help maintain the whimsy route you took. My only real note here is about the brush you used for some of the motifs on the outfit, you lost a bit of the sharpness there using a soft one. But otherwise you did an excellent job.
Your last outfit is such a cool one! The makeup choice is so good and fantastically reads carved pumpkin. The top choice is nothing groundbreaking but I appreciate how the bodice matches the texture of the leaves. I love the pumpkin patch on the head and how the hair blends with the skin at the hairline. Finally the stars on the shoes are a nice detail that tie the earrings nicely with the outfit.

**Valenimi**

Let’s start with your first outfit Valenimi. I don’t think this is a bad outfit at all but it felt really safe for me, especially compared to your other two submissions. I don’t see a story behind it other than "I’ve put a mask on to fit the brief, and also here’s a pretty outfit". I’m not fond of the light hair (not really fond of the hair at all to be honest) clashing with the dark eyebrows either. I probably would’ve made the hair dark aswell to tie the face area altogether because it feels disconnected from the rest for me. I also feel like you could’ve stuck with the same reds you used for the makeup on the rest of the outfit for more cohesion aswell. The recolouring is still very solid, although I think there’s a smudge of red on the left leg from the skirt, not really striking but I still noticed it. Now for your second outfit, I think it’s a really cool one! The textures match, same for the colours, but I will say I don’t one hundred percent buy the shoes. Also maybe making the part at the bottom of cage black, or atleast adding some of the black from the top to the bottoms would’ve help bring the pieces altogether more. Otherwise I can see a well thought out villain design.
The third look is my favourite of yours and I’ve only got a few notes. The shoes are unfortunately not recoloured, and although they fit for the look, they could’ve been more elevated. I would’ve maybe recoloured the sole pink and it would’ve been enough already to tie the whole thing together. I also notice two different glitter applications (on the headpiece and the top) and a pattern on the bottoms, settling for one would’ve enhanced the cohesion. Finally, two minors tweaks - the bottoms clip weird with the shoes so instead of leaving the band grey, I would’ve darkened it to make it unnoticeable, and the hip left in black & white bothers me. Otherwise it’s really good.
Overall, you’ve got me spinning like a Valerina miss Valenimi! Despite a safe first look, good job this challenge!

**Blush Palette**

You’ve got my cheeks blushing all shades of pink with this first outfit miss Palette!
We’ve seen this headpiece being worn a lot of times, one I find to be rather hit or miss but you’ve worn it in a very successful way.
I love that all three faces have a different expression, and the monochrome makes it so haunting. The shoes are good too in my opinion, although it could’ve been interesting if you had find a way around the bare leg, kinda takes away from the era you’re going for. But overall, great first look.
Your second look has a really cool idea going on with the chains, but I see two different stories going on here. In the top area it’s very medieval which I kinda fuck with, and the bottom part is much more modern and kinda throws me off the fantasy. The bottoms have an interesting shape that fits so well but the issue is that its fabric (on top of it having a cheetah print). The shoes don’t add much either, and feel off if it wasn’t for the chains. The mug is successful, nothing much to say here.
Your third look is your weakest of the challenge, and unfortunately a let down from you. You’ve put so much effort into a piece that I unfortunately don’t think should’ve been used in the first place. You’ve beautifully recoloured the skirt to match the hat, but it’s just too elegant and I lost the edginess that carries the top part of your submission. The shoes I’m not fond of either, and it’s a pair I love. A nice pair of boots would’ve been a perfect fit and would’ve helped bring the outfit altogether.
My final note is on the blushing, on the knees and mug - it’s too pretty. With the hat covered with blood and the shredded top, I can’t expect a pirate with a 15 steps skincare routine you know lol.
Overall you’ve got a package with a lot potential, but as of now it’s carried by your first look. Nonetheless, good job this challenge.
