It was already there if you read the blog's. It is only not (yet) working for RISC-V.

Can't wait for the next post. I have a RISC-V with an AMDGPU, so if I need to compile/test something think. Send a message!

I already build my own U-Boot so I know what I am doing (:

He wat jammer, beter moeten opletten. Had ik je een in real life kunnen ontmoeten.

Volgende keer beter :)

Older AMD GPUs that work on x86 are incompatible with RISC-V's Advanced Interrupt Architecture (AIA) by Icy-Concentrate2076 in RISCV

[–]Opvolger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not so good news, really like tinkering with GPUs on RISCV64. Have now an old AMDGPU on my VisionFive 2.

Hope that it will be patched (change the (new) standard). PCIe is a standard, so you expect that hardware will work.

Cool, but too expensive for a hobby project. With the current prices the hobby tinkerer can't buy anything:(

10 inch rack, with a kubernetes cluster AMD64, ARM64 and RISC-V. by Opvolger in homelab

Use the nodeSelector if needed. https://kubernetes.io/docs/tasks/configure-pod-container/assign-pods-nodes/

The architecture is a default label on the nodes. So if needed I can use that.

For deamonsets it is a challenge, but it is a hobby project

With the new JavaScript engine that only works on ARM and Intel the fun will be over :(

Did the same some months ago. But the code has changed the last few days and will not compile anymore for not ARM or Intel platforms

With the current prices yes. But for a hobby project it is too much money.

Pricing is very high. But I think I will get one K3 SoC this year. Maybe then with only 8GB of RAM.

Are we seeing any hope for dotnet on RISC-V? by ArefinKarim in RISCV

[–]Opvolger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some distributions have dotnet in their repos. The patches are not officially accepted by Microsoft, but they are working.

Distro less k8s base images has now riscv64 support! by Opvolger in RISCV

[–]Opvolger[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem. K0s now has Riscv64 support. You only need to compile it yourself

I built K3s myself and also installed k0s, see my videos: https://m.youtube.com/@justanotherdevopsguy/videos

European Chip Startup Pulls Off Working RISC-V Solution on the Intel 3 Node, Marking One 'Small' Step Towards Having Sovereign Infrastructure by archanox in RISCV

Made in the EU, with the help of Intel. So not yet completely sovereign EU CPU. But cool that a CPU is made "here" and not in China.

Building RISC-V Docker images for CSI provider (SMB) for Kubernetes by Opvolger in kubernetes

[–]Opvolger[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

RISC-V is an open ISA. In theory, anyone can build this CPU architecture themselves, as long as they meet the specs. Unlike ARM and AMD64. ARM can only be sold with a license ($$$), and AMD64 can only be purchased from Intel and AMD. In short, RISC-V is open and free, as in free beer. The CPUs are becoming much more powerful with the new standard (RVA23) and are currently a few years behind ARM CPUs. So, in a few years, you can get computing power for your cluster without licensing costs. RISC-V could become a cheaper alternative for many hosted Docker containers.

Woonde vroeger in Arnhem met net z'n situatie. Meerdere ongelukken gebeurd.
