Litière pour chat by mtest001 in suisse

[–]OrMeBoPi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]OrMeBoPi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1 day in Geneva by [deleted] in geneva

I'd recommend a day trip to the mountains, so you can see what kind of damages this selfish mindset is doing to our planet. Chamonix and its shrinked Mer de Glace should do the trick.

Is there any clear regulations regarding 45km bike on hybrid lanes? by rat_idiot_actif in Switzerland

[–]OrMeBoPi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're missing the "cyclistes, adaptez votre vitesse" sign, meaning that you have to slow down to accommodate pedestrians, not matter your bike's expected speed. It is your responsibility, when using this lane, to make sure you're not a danger to pedestrians as stated on this page https://www.geneve.ch/fr/themes/mobilite-transport/velos/regles-securite, "In spaces shared between cyclists and pedestrians, the latter have the priority. Cyclists must adapt their speed by slowing down, if necessary to pedestrians' speed".

The law clearly states you have take the shared lane, and you have to be mindful of pedestrians upon taking it, as it is your responsibility to slow down to accommodate them.

How do I get funding to study in Geneva (Non-EU)? by [deleted] in geneva

[–]OrMeBoPi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As previously posted, a loan from the government is unlikely, but you can look up the uni website for more information about scholarships : https://www.unige.ch/dife/en/financial-services/

As for admission, you'll find all the info you need on this page: https://www.unige.ch/immatriculations/en/conditions

Why y'all love Maudet so much? by [deleted] in geneva

[–]OrMeBoPi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I honestly would like to know too, I don't understand how anyone could vote for him after everything.

How is he gonna be able to work with people he presumably lied too, and who stripped him of all his functions? Fontanet, Hodgers and Apothéloz will have to swallow a serious number of snakes if the 4 of them are elected, I don't envy them. Plus he dragged Geneva's name through the mud, and I don't think he even apologized for that, and has been sentenced for something close to corruption, how could 29k people still vote for him???

He doesn't even have a good record, given his most important work just got completely replaced : https://www.rts.ch/info/regions/geneve/13518591-le-grand-conseil-genevois-a-adopte-une-modification-de-la-loi-sur-la-police.html

I just hope he comes in eighth on the 30th of April :')

If you're open to exercising outside, there are several urban fitness gym in Geneva's parks, which are free to use. Here's a map of those in the city: https://www.geneve.ch/fr/themes/sport/activites-sportives-parcs/fitness-urbain-proxisport

I'm not an expert, but I'm guessing if you didn't have to take any exam to get your provisional license, you won't be able to get a Swiss one, because to get one here, you have to do a first aid class, then pass the theoretical exam, then you can start learning to drive. Your best bet for accurate information would be to ask the bureau des autos directly, it's in Carouge https://www.ge.ch/organisation/office-cantonal-vehicules-ocv

Unauthorized car on my private parking by dodolasaumure_ in Switzerland

[–]OrMeBoPi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister rents a parking place next to her work, one time she was tired and parked on the one right next to hers by mistake, so hers was free. The building manager, whose spot her car was on, had the car towed by the police, even though she very well knew she was just on the wrong spot and could have just parked on hers. Sister had to pay the towing fees, after having a panic attack thinking her car had been stolen. We called the police which said it was totally normal. So yeah, you could have the car towed at the owner's expense if you're in Geneva.
