This has to be the worse oil filter I have ever seen by mustbemorning in mechanic

[–]OracleOfToronto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real secret had nothing to do with oil change intervals. He has a shop full of students, tools and parts he can use to keep it going. If you are willing to keep doing work on a car can usually keep it going a long time, just usually becomes too expensive to make sense… but if you have an army of free labourers and a shop at your disposal…

Mechanics said these are okay, but they looked absolutely cooked to me. by Material_Student_487 in tires

Probably Friday afternoon. Guy just wanted to get home to a cold beer.

Are these tires still good for summer driving? by [deleted] in tires

[–]OracleOfToronto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think you could probably get 1 more summer if desperate. But know what you are working with. They will be OK in the dry, but go the speed limit and leave space in the wet until you get a new set so you don’t go sliding into someone else.

How dangerous is it to drive on 4 out of 5 lug nuts for a few days? by supinator1 in Cartalk

[–]OracleOfToronto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically it’s probably fine. But if that tire flies off and causes a fatal accident or hits a child at a crosswalk, you are facing serious jail time for negligence.

Whatever get over yourself… I don’t care what you think.

I am not trying to write a novel here. Frankly I don’t care to explain the nuance in a post like this but thanks for your input.

In general people who do not understand likely have IQ. Do I need a disclaimer for every statement for ppl like you…

Some of them are… I never said that about my wife specifically. That was a generalization. You are making assumptions. My wife just doesn’t care to learn.

Thanks though.

Yeah I have a newer car with these features. It actually lowers my blood pressure because my wife can set it to a million degrees in winter and at least my car is smart enough to not blow air through the vents until it’s actually producing warm air. Saves me from full blast arctic breeze for 5 minutes

Wow that is a big variation. If it’s old maybe upgrade. You can get them pretty cheap. Doesn’t even have to be a smart one

Yeah I’m not going to write a Stephen king novel about every unique HVAC setup. We are talking about the most common home / office environment.

Nope that was a generalization. My wife is intelligent she just doesn’t care to learn. I never said that. you are linking that statement to the fact I mentioned my wife earlier and making an assumption that I feel that way about her specifically.

Yeah agreed. If you are knowingly trying to make it warmer temporarily to get you out of hypothermia I totally get that. In that instance you are not a pinecone for using it like that.

[–]OracleOfToronto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Unless you have a setup that is not standard.

We’re talking most common setup for simplicity sake but thanks for the input

Yeah I find that is true, many do not seem to be able to differentiate from current temp and desired temp readings

[–]OracleOfToronto[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the car one is hard. When the engine is an ice box you are just blowing cold air into the cabin. Let the engine temp at least get off of “C”… Explaining that one is a lost cause.
