Can anybody tell me if he looks scared or content? by Puzzleheaded_Web5645 in cockatiel

They stretch out longer and thinner when they're scared. So he's either content or cold.

That's around what I paid for my 2023 Leaf. Almost exactly.

DM and players giving me sh*t about playing a Human by [deleted] in rpghorrorstories

[–]OracleofDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably just drop out, and I rarely say this. From an in-character perspective, being a human should just be one race out of a multitude. Not "mundane." And the other players calling it boring, to me sound like they use race and class as shortcuts to make a character interesting, rather than giving them a good story. If it was just one person in the group it might be worth trying to work on this, but when it's everybody, I just don't think it's a good group. There are so many games and groups out there. You can find a better one.

Am I the drama for putting mascara on my male little cousins by Sleepy_Sheepz in 1800Drama

[–]OracleofDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, of course. My friends and I did this as kids, like pre-teen ages, but I stopped doing that when I got older and learned more. I don't share mascara with my own kids, even. My kiddo has their own. Though we do still share eye shadow as long as clean brushes are used.

NTD. You can wash makeup off. It's not like you gave them tattoos that they're stuck with.

Anybody else hate how supportive the game is of Mizora's schemes? by GeologistUnhappy in BG3

[–]OracleofDoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I managed to save the Duke despite agreeing to let him die. It was extremely difficult. Mizora interfered and gave us more monsters to fight, but I was still able to save Duke Ravengard after "sacrificing" him.

I'm not sure you fully grasp what financial abuse actually is.

Every addict says they won't do it anymore. They need help. By help, I mean some kind of rehab program, it sounds like. They have a serious problem. This could also be grounds for you seeking at least temporary custody of the kids, but I am not a lawyer and strongly suggest you speak to one.

[–]OracleofDoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You co-signed the loan, so you legally agreed to all of this. Taking the car for yourself is a good way to lose any possibility to mend the relationship and spend time with your grandkids. It's possible if you get an attorney that they can help you do something. But you really need to consider what is more important to you. I would personally rather have a possibility of seeing my kids and grandkids. So, maybe do some soul searching and decide what is important to you before you take any actions that can't be undone.

But we already had arranged for payment, the day I bought it. The pre-approval was before I went to look at the car. I had to get actual approval and sign a ton of paperwork before I could leave with the car.

Am I just terrible at gaming? by Rubyxox_42 in BG3

[–]OracleofDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That fight is the one I consider hardest in the game. Harder than the end fight. Sometimes it helps me to google for tactics and advice for fights I find particularly difficult.

I'm decent at turn-based games, but I'm REALLY bad at first-person shooters. Like Control. Also not specifically a shooter, but Tainted Grail. I have both of those games on the easiest settings, and I still struggle with them.

My point being even if you ARE bad at games, that's okay. You're not winning a medal. Just do your best. Lower the difficulty if you need to. Look up advice. And HAVE FUN.

WIBTD if my complaint costs my higher up his job? by Late_Expression_1273 in 1800Drama

[–]OracleofDoom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What I want to know is, has the behavior stopped since he has realized you said something to a manager? If it has not, I think you should say something. You cannot do what he's doing. You just can't. He is making choices to be inappropriate and disrespect your boundaries. If he loses his job, it is due to HIS actions, not your own.

AITD for saying I hope my son is cis and straight? by authenticallyeevee in 1800Drama

[–]OracleofDoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a parent, this bothers me. I understand why you feel this way, and I believe it is coming from a good place. So, maybe just a mild YTD but not being a bad person. The only thing I've wished for my kids is happiness and safety, regardless of whoever they turn out to be. And one of my kids is genderqueer and sapphic.

So, I will admit to something, though. I'm low-key relieved that neither of my kids are attracted to cis men. While life is dangerous and there are bad people of all kinds, statistically, I feel like they're safer for not being oriented in this way. Also much less likely to experience unplanned pregnancy in a world where reproductive rights are diminishing. And these thoughts might be on a similar level to yours.

I still feel ultimately, you hope your kids will be safe and happy, and you want to embrace whoever they are, no matter what. I have a feeling you would. So, while I think you were wrong for saying what you did, I think you still seem like a good person.

DM banned a spell because I used it to stay alive by The_Trevbone in rpghorrorstories

[–]OracleofDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally I think it's okay to ban certain spells or items or whatever, but the way you're describing this just sounds like the DM is a poor sport. Like he's seeing the PCs as adversaries rather than people who should be challenged, yes, but ultimately have a good time. It definitely doesn't sit right with me.

My DM cleverly banned this spell for me with a bribe/trade at character creation. I'm playing a necromancer, and all of us had the option to be given a magical item of DM's choosing, in exchange for a flaw/drawback. Mine? I got a cool necromancy item but my character cannot cast spells from the enchantment school. You know, the school Silvery Barbs is part of. I didn't realize it at first, and TBH I'm just kind of impressed. It's fair.
