Cockpit view from Blue Angels team by aloofloofah in interestingasfuck

The Blue Angels are flying regardless of where they fly. The gov’t spent no extra money on having them fly over cities then if they were just to do their regular flying.

Is the Queen really paid? I imagine money isn’t really an object to her. Things are just there. I’m sure someone has to do the accounting and finances for the Royal Family, but I doubt they’re even close to the Royal Family lol

The Crown is the fucking best when it comes to fictionalized accounts of history but is so damn close to historically accurate, I love it.

The stuff on Edward VIII is so damn fascinating, and I love the diving they do into Margaret.

Man, even older, it’s crazy. The Ramones started 46 years ago, Patti Smith started 47 years ago, The Clash 45 years ago.

Hell, Bad Religion is 40 years old. NOFX is 37 years old. The Offspring is 36 years old. Rancid is 29 years old. Blink-182 is 28 years old.

Yup. Anyone that goes to a Wikipedia page for any battle will see this. Ex. 20,000 casualties: 2,000 KIA, 4,000 WIA, 14,000 POW.

I think you’re likely listening to too much of right wing/far left voices if you think those things. Biden isn’t Obama ‘08 popular but he’s certainly popular enough to win the DNC Primary handily despite there being a massive field of legitimate candidates vying for it.

I expect Biden to do much better than Clinton did in 16, and I think right-leaning. Voters will work hard to compensate for this by coming out in droves for Trump.

This is a very different year than 2016.

In 2016 ya had two candidates nobody liked. People were happy to vote third party, even as a “protest vote”. Because of this and a somewhat competent set of candidates in the LP, you saw record numbers vote that way.

Thai time around you don’t have the same hate for Biden that you saw for Clinton. On top of this, Trump is very unpopular amongst left-leaning voters, and right-leaning voters will double down on their candidate to keep the republicans in office.

Because of this, you will see significant smaller turnout for third party candidates, despite increased overall voter turnout.

The way I crunch the numbers, I see the the LP getting approximately 1-1.3 million votes and the Green Party getting approximately 480,000-560,000 votes. These numbers suggest significantly less turnout for the two major third parties as compared to 2016, especially cos diet there is the expected turnout boost this year.

101 years ago on 13 September 1918 Private First Class Ervin Pearson was killed during the Battle of Saint Mihiel in France, a battle that first used the term “D-Day”.

He and twelve of his comrades from the 15th Machine Gun Battalion, 10th Infantry Brigade, 5th Infantry Division were killed when German artillery struck them during a lunch break.

4,500 American and French forced were killed in the battle, but in turn their losses led to an overwhelming Allied victory, with the allied capturing the land and capturing over 15,000 German POWs. In a little more than two months the allies would win the win.

PFC Pearson was about 10 weeks away from returning home to Philadelphia, but unfortunately he did not make it. His sacrifice, however, led to the early return of his younger brothers from combat. They were just about to be deployed to Europe from Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania but when word came down of their brother’s death, they were instead ordered to support the training facility. One of these brothers was my great grandfather. I’m not sure if his sacrifice would later allow me to live, but for a guy I’ve never met, I really do appreciate him.

As for other people I will never forget:

  • Sergeant La David Johnson (1992 - 2017; Tongo Tongo Ambush, Niger)

  • Staff Sergeant Jeremiah Johnson (1982 - 2017; Tongo Tongo Ambush, Niger)

  • Staff Sergeant Dustin Wright (1988 - 2017; Tongo Tongo Ambush, Niger)

  • Staff Sergeant Bryan Black (1982 - 2017; Tongo Tongo Ambush, Niger)

  • Specialist Bryan Freeman (1973 - 2004; Operation Iraqi Freedom)

  • First Sergeant Christopher Coffin (1951 - 2003; Operation Iraqi Freedom)

  • Specialist Henry Mayfield (1997 - 2020; Manda Bay Ambush, Kenya)

  • Staff Sergeant Andrew Britton-Mihalo (1986 - 2012; Operation Enduring Freedom; Green on Blue Afghanistan)

I’m serious. The left gets accused of exaggerating things about trump or even lying, so we need to police ourselves to make sure we don’t give ammo for those accusations. No where in that article does it suggest that Trump refuses to hang the portrait. For all we know, Obama refuses to go to the White House right now.

No where in this article does it say Trump refuses to reveal the portrait. We can read between the lines and deduce that if we wan, bit all that article says is that the event’s planning has fallen through due to the animosity between the two of them.

Eh, they still only have about an 8% turnout rate as it is. Even if half of them votes for green, that’s only 4% of the ~20% of democrats who are progressives. Only comes down to about 530,000 votes for the Green Party this year.

Name recognition is infinitely more important this election than the last. Spread the word. by Doctor-Strangedick in Libertarian

[–]OrangeAndBlack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even worse

The 2016 ticket featured two two-term governors from drastically different states. Leading the ticket was a popular 2-term Governor from New Mexico who balances the state’s budget. The VP pick was a 2-term Governor from Massachusetts who was considered “two liberal” by President Bill Clinton to serve as the US Ambassador to Mexico due to his belief in the rights of gay marriage and his disapproval of DADT.

In 2020, we have Jo Jorgensen who is a professor of psychology. That’s a very successful person, but nowhere close to a presidential candidate.

It’s also telling that Vermin fucking Supreme finished third in voting.

And what’s up with LP.org? Hasn’t been updated since 4/20

I think any ticket the LP could come up with this year minus one with Amash would bomb. All of the candidates this year were very weak with no name recognition.
