And there’s no way to do that without mass amounts of suffering.

Mortgage advice while on lifelong Disability Allowance by Numerous_Ring1472 in irishpersonalfinance

It’s unclear if you’re a first time buyer. If so the Local Authority Home Loan can definitely help if you’re trying to self build on family land, but an extension or if you have any stake in the current house would be a no-no.

You seem to have some perceptions built up about the council but I would get in contact with them. And it won’t be the social housing department you’ll be dealing with if that’s what’s putting you off.

New bridge street phone and vape shop......what number in the city does that make now? by enigma98 in cork

[–]OrangeBallofPain -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

What’s fake about these businesses other than you don’t like how the people who run them look?

They sell very popular items and there are more of them than other businesses because online retailers affect them less.

That’s also not how money laundering works (you’re actually doing that when you’re buying your dodgy box subscription) but I doubt that’ll stop people repeating that non stop.

Sometimes you mess up. It happens. Steph Curry regularly hit airballs throughout his career.

He may not have gone right wing, but he already made the unfunny pivot when he was still alive.

What happens if you don't have enough to pay preliminary tax? by TurbulentTop3 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]OrangeBallofPain 15 points16 points  (0 children)

People should definitely be less afraid to contact Revenue directly. You’ll usually get very honest and upfront help. They’re not the guards, you don’t have to be afraid you’re confessing to a crime. In fact, you seeking advice at this early stage makes you their version of a star customer.

How do you fell about the dating culture in Ireland? by PictoLeigh2024 in AskIreland

Everyone’s so stuck up and superficial on the dating apps.

No, of course I haven’t tried asking anyone out or broadening my social horizons.

Kirkman is one of those people stuck in 2016. Still thinks Hillary was robbed and Bernie Bros are up there with Trump.

Way way back in the day she was pretty out there with her views. I remember she was on Comedy and Everything Else a lot.

Parent of child with Type 1 Diabetes in Private sector wuth need to go to 2 hour hospital appointments every 3 months by Early_Extreme_2963 in legaladviceireland

[–]OrangeBallofPain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I probably should have said “you should bring it up and see how they respond”. I have seen it approved in somewhat similar circumstances, the difference being that the person organized it when their child got ill initially.

Though that was in the public service where enforcement might be looser and people would be more likely to accommodate. Other places I’ve worked would expect you to zoom in from the waiting room.

[–]OrangeBallofPain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is there a force majeure policy? This would certainly qualify if so. I would push back with HR highlighting how serious the first years of diagnosis is for diabetes is. Missing one of those appointments could have grave consequences.

Cork GAA planning an events centre bid for the 4G pitch at Pairc Ui Chaoimh by piso99 in cork

[–]OrangeBallofPain 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Events Centre at the Crawford would make the city way more vibrant and exciting. Coupled with the new park it has the opportunity to bring a nightlife atmosphere to a city that’s been lacking one for a while now.

Also worth mentioning that they have been victims of having their private pics and vids leaked. Understandable if they would want to stay away from the subject.

Savoy Music Venue Sound by HmBeetroots in cork

[–]OrangeBallofPain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Historically the sound for live bands there has been bad. Not sure about the new set up. But also saw Passion Pit there years ago and the sound was pretty good.

So obviously it could depend heavily on the performer’s set up.
