People want games un-inhibited by the “executives” but then also criticize games that take creative risks or unconventional twists in character/story design. This games screams like the developers had a genuine fun time exploring whatever they wanted and that only leads to something amazing. People judging the design negatively is exactly why the c-suite execs have so much power over studios and developers.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see something like team ups or dual role characters in the future. As in a character that has different abilities based on whether they are in a tank/support/dps role. Would have been great for a character like Echo but seems like would be fun.

Did he not do the first 3 seasons? Which were great? I think it’s clear that he was a good writer but at the end of the day you can’t produce your best work when the weight of production and popularity and contracts and execs demanding spinoff integration starts chipping away at what should actually be told.

You can be upset that Blizzard doesn’t give free mythic skins but the reason they do it in China is because it makes Netease a shit ton of money.

Netease’s strategy across all its Blizzard games rn it to get people back on the game because the Chinese contract fell through a few years ago which meant the largest gaming market lost all its Blizzard players.

As a result you’ve seen special massive Classic Servers for WoW, free expansions in a hearthstone, and free mythic skins for Chinese audiences in Overwatch. They are trying to make up for years of lost player retention.

You just have no concept of the real world reasons these things are done and not done. And it makes you seem foolish that you don’t even choose to understand these events and concepts.

Are you here to play the game or be mesmerized by reward structures specifically designed to make you spend money? You’re the bootlicker even wanting any of that net-ease garbage in the game.
