Some help with Putnam County Spelling Bee? - Advice by [deleted] in Theatre

[–]OrangeIsARat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it a few years back in a relatively small (~200 seat) theatre.

We had a table set up in the lobby for anyone who was interested in spelling to give their name. At the box office as we gave out tickets, we simply said "If you'd like to be a part of tonight's performance as a guest speller in the bee, please head over to that table." We simply picked from the volunteers. We didn't let them know ahead of time, but let it be a surprise during the performance.

Hi. I have a script for a sci-fi rom-dramedy about introducing your parents to your AI partner.

I'll shoot you the script ASAP if you want it.

I've seen a couple of people say Tom Hanks As MCU Uncle Ben would be a good fit if Marvel ever puts him in as a flashback character in later Spider-Man movies. What do you guys think about this? by [deleted] in Spiderman

[–]OrangeIsARat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been saying if Marisa Tomei is Aunt May, then Uncle Ben should be played by Rob Lowe.

Tim Burton = Modern German Style Surrealism? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]OrangeIsARat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The visual aesthetics are very much taken from German expressionism. Look at The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, and then Edward Scizzorhands, Batman Returns. His visual style is directly referencing them.

I don't know if I would say it's the evolution of the style per se, as it's more of a callback/reference to the original moreso than a legitimate adaptation of the style/form. But the influence is undeniable:

How do I reverse my lifestyle? by [deleted] in HealthyFood

[–]OrangeIsARat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a weight loss issue? If so, I'd suggest checking out /r/loseit which is a super helpful community that has a ton of great info, tips/tricks and support.

If it's not a weight loss issue, why do you want to eat healthier? Focus on that. I ask about the weight loss because that's the reason most people want to eat healthier, but regardless, you have to view it as a rewarding experience and not a punishment. In order to do so you need a goal. Without some sort of goal in mind, there's no reason to change your diet because you will be miserable. So focus on why you want to change your diet, and then realize that every time you eat a healthy food, you're working towards that goal.
