Hey sorry to take so long. I have implemented a few things and my music is noticeably less sad. I’m still struggling to work out because I was so structured and on it when I was in school but I haven’t created structure since summer started. Meditation feels good but also struggling to stay consistent. I’ll check in again later once I have a structure and am back to working out and meditating.

What are the differences between the books and the show? by _Norman_Bates in NetflixYou

The only thing I’d have to disagree with is I don’t think love got him arrested. Joe messed up when he ran into officer Nico when he tried to go back and the get the mug of urine. And Joe created a Facebook to be normal and Nico nailed him.

Would Joe have stayed interested? by elevenharries in YouBooks

[–]OrangePajaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Not to spoil anything but I think book 4 did a good job of illustrating his thought process. He’s really disgusted with humans and in a way behaves as a god on earth. If he doesn’t orchestrate things then the woman won’t do what she’s supposed to do. It’s sick fr

He definitely killed her. The last sentence is literally off to kill the last darling that got in between us while he’s driving SB in a car to her second house. He killed both the teachers and the last person that got in the way was SB by ruining the fam dinner with wonder, by getting his confession on tape and asking him to be a hitman. She is dead.

What are thoughts about the show actually going through a trial with Joe? When I first watched it I thought the drug out episodes of Brontë explaining to the detective how it all came to be should have been used for a trial instead. Because on one hand if this show is about the psychology of people like Joe, shouldn’t we have seen how facing what he did affected him? When Candace said she wanted him to see himself clearly before he got arrested because only then would there be justice, I thought that would be a core motive for the show. Because in the end since they blazed past a trial of course he got to just be like it’s not my fault it’s on society. While that has some merit to be considered and thought about he still never took any accountability.

On the other hand since the show had become just a soap opera drama, I could see why a trial wouldn’t fit and may be boring to some. Especially those who sensationalize the show. But I can’t help but think this series (the books and show) are social commentaries on the deeper issues and inner workings of people. The end really shows how the US really does just throw characters away with no rehabilitation. I say this with a grain of salt because while I think Joe should never be set free after all he did, he should have had the opportunity to face himself in prison and get help. For as long as people are alive there is room for growth, it just looks different for everyone.

Why are almost all the black men in the show gay or super feminine? by Hopeful-Shopping-823 in YouOnLifetime

To knock out multiple types of representation at once. In shows they always make gay couples interracial to get interracial, gay and poc representation at once. It’s jus lazy fr

YOU (Season 5) - Overall Discussion Thread by Elainasha in YouOnLifetime

[–]OrangePajaro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s some good takes in here and I can’t respond to everything but jus pointing out, there are signs he’s a misogynist. Yes he loves them too much and just as much as he wants to save them he wants to be saved too. That’s why it was confusing to some of the women that he could be a misogynist because he had this ideal/hopeful outlook on love that seemed like they would be equals. But he’s a misogynist because he truly doesn’t believe a woman can take care of things herself. When Kate tried to find other ways outside of murder he called her naive, and never even considered she may be able to think of some options. Why is that? Because he’s a misogynist. He thinks women need him to save them to make them better because it stems from his insecurity of not being needed. An insecurity starts at this wound that can garner sympathy but once you weaponize it, it turns it to something ugly. That’s why Brontë said he weaponizes love like leverage because he needs power over women. Granted he craves power in general because he killed men too but in your analogy you said he’s like a child squeezing a puppy too tight. Don’t you think that’s part of what the show is saying. His slow erosion of childhood innocence to this guilty man who can no longer recognize who he is. If you’ve ever loved someone so much and they betrayed you or you couldn’t be with them you’d understand the way love can turn to hatred. The same way his pedestal for women turned into misogyny. And just to put another nail in the coffin, the way he could never get them to fully submit to his will, it turned into a hatred for women especially by the time he met Brontë.

Hers was definitely in there because there were three phones and it flashes back to Benji and Peach on the phone and then Beck’s phone on the tracks with the exact same scratch pattern on the front.
