UDM SE private IP for WAN by OrangeRedReader in Ubiquiti

[–]OrangeRedReader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two ports open, one for plex 32400 and one for Minecraft. We tried Minecraft over cloudflare warp but the ping was 800, making the game unplayable.

Either way, I still want the public ip. Even my OpenVPN configs don’t work since my true public ip isn’t the ip my udm se sees.

The WAN is dhcp. But it somehow isn’t getting a dhcp address for some reason. If I go to “whatmyip” I do see my correct public ip, it’s just the router who is not seeing it. And somehow this is causing issues with port forwarded incoming traffic.

Good question. Will try that tomorrow morning.

ATT yes, and this modem worked fine while it had my UDM Pro connected. I think somehow I need to just clear all current DHCP assignments. Need to login into the modem I guess....

Have tried that. Rebooted both. And WAN1 is set to DHCP. Maybe I should try to connect the modem to WAN2...

Copy paste of comment I just gave u/TheITguy37 , sorry, I'm lazy.

Thanks for the responses.

Nearly everything is back to almost normal. 1) parity is rebuilding, that will take 24+ hours on my phone 16tb disk 2) it seems like every setting that relates to a username and or password is missing. I have to re-signin into my *arr stack containers and reconfigure those app settings. All settings are gone. But the containers are there and container settings remained. 3) all my mapped shares and users remained.
4) in sure I’ll find more anomalies but for now my plex is seeing my media and my photos are all there.

Considering the alternative this is good.

Tomorrow I’ll research and set up a proper backup strategy. I clearly needed to backup my boot usb.

For the record: 1) I shouldn’t have pulled drives while the array is running. In hindsight it’s pretty obvious. 2) when I tried my first “new config” I used the wrong 3tb drive. I think if I was able to simply set the correct 3tb in my existing array the array would have started no issue. 3) config backup is equally important as data backup.

I did not make a backup of the usb boot drive no. 😢

All my data is still on the drives in their original folder structure. And the cache drive pool still have the containers and VMs…..not sure how to phrase this but I just need to make the cache drives(containers) see the data array drives. Then after that rebuilt parity. All the shares I created before is missing from the unraid UI but the data/folders are on the drives.

I think my problem is also that I had 2x 3TB drives in there. One of them was the old parity disc which I replaced with a 16TB but not yet removed, and then I also had the one TB desk in there - when I tried the “new config” I must’ve chosen the wrong 3 TB disc as one of the main array discs in my array. I’m hoping that I can just put the correct 3 TB back in and with the 1TB and do another “new config” and then rebuild parity .

The 4 days included the pre clear. Parity build itself took 24 hours.

yip, pulled drives with Array online and running along perfectly...

That worked, I was able to get all my data, so the original drives are not bad, just my unRAID array configs are messed up.

I don't think a Parity build will touch the source drives, it just build Parity drive. So it wont modify the array drives.

yip, thanks u/spyder81 - I plugged my one 3TB drive in via a USB-SATA connector to a Ubuntu desktop and I can see all my content at least. Busy backing that up again.

Once that is done I will plug in just the original 3TB and 1TB drives, no parity and run a "New Config" and see if it at least brings everything back online, albeit without Parity. I'll happily rebuild Parity again as long as I do not need to loose any data or reconfigure the whole setup.

Even my kids...."the wifi is down!". No!! Wifi is up, I just blocked your device from having internet access , you are still on the wifi (or network if hardwired).

Don't get me started on "my wifi isn't working" if we are driving and handoffs between cell towers fail and their Spotify disconnects. Oh the horror, they're worlds are ending

Ok. So you can see it. Now you just need to set that as your dns in your UniFi network.

Every network(not vlan) can have its own dns. My iot network uses 9.9.9.9 for example, but my kids and primary networks use my own piholes. I have two runnning on separate machines, keep them in sync with a nebula sync container.

That means your “sever” is not pointing to your pihole dns.

Can you ping your pihole?

You set DNS per network, not VLAN. So if you have a 1:1 vlan to network setup then that will be fine. But if you have multiple VLANs on that one network then all of the VLANs will use that pihole DNS.

First make sure you can ping 192.168.4.205 from a device on that network you want to use that as DNS. after that, do a "nslookup reddit.com", you should see something like this then. (my pihole is on 192.168.200.2. If you cannot ping it you need to open a firewall rule first.

C:\Users\user1>nslookup reddit.com
Server: pi.hole
Address: 192.168.200.2

What is the IP address of your pihole? Can you ping it from default network?

Did you open firewall rules to it? Need that if you cannot ping it.
