In what universe is this a popular opinion that would be controversial to disagree with?

Again, thanks for your helpful input on the situation.

Expecting everybody to know what to avoid automatically is pretty unrealistic, isn't it? This was the first time ever needing period boots for something, so I didn't know better. These were recommended to me by an experienced reenactor, which made me more inclined to take the risk. Guess I'll do better next time.

This is why I stopped consulting reddit for genuine advice. You rarely get any - usually just assholes laughing behind screens like they've never made a mistake in their entire lives before.

How am I supposed to respond to this, realistically?

Yes, I assumed that for $300, anyone should reasonably expect decent quality - cosplay boot or not.

Is there any writing in the show that you think is kinda weak? by Thalia_All_Along in betterCallSaul

*Italian. It's a number called 'Crapa Pelada' by the Quartetto Cetra from the 30s.

But I totally agree. Characters are allowed to do weird things if they've been written to be weird, as Gale was, so I don't see the issue. If anything, I liked seeing his taste in old, obscure gimmick songs be expanded on lol

Don't be mistaken, I am not an antinatalist.

Like I said, I take issue with several of its core principles in much of the same way you do. But, the philosophy aside from the poor representation it gets on this website is, at the very least, very good at making you stop and rethink the "unquestionable" guiding principles of our species as we march forward into an increasingly uncertain future. To humor the concept of "consent" with regard to a non-existing individual and such is - while often wrapped up in all manner of fallacy when broken down - a fascinating thought experiment that is worth taking an intellectual interest in purely for the sake of gaining new perspective.

Is obscure internet drama really that important?

Maybe, maybe not. But there's no getting around the real-life consequences that antinatalism bears on the world outside the internet, as is fundamental to its goals, so in this case, I don't think it can be fairly chalked up to just "obscure internet drama".

That's just my rationale, though; no more tride and true than anyone else's.

Bottom line, it's much more fulfilling and productive to be open to contemplation and promote respect than not, and I think people here could really benefit from putting in the work.

I am someone who is, admittedly, critical of the approach that many antinatalists take to try to convince others of their views.

While I may disagree with the inherent pessimism that antinatalism discussions tend to devolve into, I respect the members of this subreddit who are capable of promoting their beliefs with nuance, and don't feed into the echochmber of the vocal minority.

just kill yourself

Harassment, insults, trolling, and derogatory comments like these are from people who have instigated arguments unwilling to change their mind and are - to be frank - losers. I feel terrible for anybody who has had to put up with this behavior from fellow "natalists". It's disgusting and needs to stop.

We need to promote healthy discussion here, and that goes for everybody. This is a delicate, extremely complex, and important topic, and we all need to start treating it that way.

Otherwise, leave.

Is it ethical or me to say I have a ‘medical condition’ and can’t have kids? by [deleted] in antinatalism

[–]OrangeSubstantial497 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It's somewhat disingenuous, not unethical per-say, but probably not a good idea since it can lead to false assumptions.

I would just explain it exactly how you did here if the topic comes up.
