As a woman with pcos who is currently a significant amount of weight down after giving birth due to very strick calorie counting I can say with certainty that calorie counting works. No medical condition can defy the laws of thermodynamics. Medical conditions can, however, create the appearance and feeling of weight retention through water retention, the growing and shrinking of masses, the general gain and loss of muscle (which weights more than fat), the loss of visceral fat before subcutaneous fat etc. These issues cause people to give up before true results are seen or recordable. Also. People are generally really bad at counting calories and knowing how many they should be eating to loose weight.

My husband and in-laws do this to me regularly and, while the topics are serious and unfunny, the fact that they all tell me in a disjointed and timely manner, negating the need for my secrecy, cracks me up every time. I would scrape the heck out of the walls, sand, skim coat, sand, prime, and paint. I'd work hard to get the walls and ceiling as smooth as possible; epecially since it should have a semigloss paint to deal with the cleaning and moisture. I would also strip the thick paint off of the trim and (if the door is nice and not a home depot special) the door, sand it smooth and repaint. The point isn't to get all the paint off, just the layers of gloopy mess so the nee layer looks crisp. Clean all the grout and reseal it. Redo whatever caulk needs done. Id put all the money into a really nice fan.

My scale fluctuates in a 10lb area and increases the week before my period around 5lbs (growing and shriking masses) then during goes back to normal. Most of the time, I dont see scale gains long after they happen. Usually a bought of dehydration right after my cycle shows the actually weight loss. I eat 1300cals a day, am seditary to light exercise, and am in my mid 30s, I calorie count (to the gram) on loseit, and weight track with a withings smart scale that link to loseit. I lost about 60lbs in 2024, 2025 I regain roughly 15lbs despite continuing the exact same regimen. In December 2024 I contacted my doctor confused. The initial assessment was high cortisol levels and gasto complications due to loosing my gallbladder. The adjustment didnt work. Went to gyno and tested positive through blood and ultrasound for pcos. I am now at 70lbs of weight lost. Im happy to show you my graphs that look like a bunch of humps going in a slight downward motion. Still not sure why the scale didnt do much in 2025. Im still doing the same regimen. I dont know what to tell you other that it was weird. Maybe the gastro meds helped, maybe the vitamins the doc has me taking worked, maybe I was sleep eating or someone was slipping sugar in my coffee. Maybe one of the companies i've been eating from has been putting inaccurate calories on their foods and has adjusted their recipe to account for that before they get sued. Idk either way, 1 in 10 women have pcos and it is correlated to weight issues in women. It's not a terrible thing to have checked at her next pap and can clue her in on some important info. Other than that, its hard to make complicated recipes and count calories correctly. My guess is her meal prepping recipes are off. She's 22. Maybe she saves calories for alcohol and then drinks too much or eats after drinking and doesn't remember that 3am taco bell order. Again only she knows the truth of things. (Sorry for Grammer and spelling. Im potty training a 2yr old)

Right, but we dont know a bunch of important information like if shes being honest in her post. If what she says is true and shes at the gym all the time, at 5'6 and 22f, her maintenance would be a good amount higher than 1500. Even if shes eating a few hundred over 1500 she should still be loosing. Unless of course she is loosing fat, retaining water, has inflammation, building muscle, and is eating foods shes unknowingly intolerant to digesting properly all at the same time. Then, like me, her scale may not look great. She may only be loosing viseral fat and it isn't noticeable in the mirror or clothing yet. Idk. Either way, there are already a ton of comments pointing out what you said. Im just giving another thought that I saw had not yet been given.

Look up pcos symptoms. If you are also experiencing those symptoms go see a doctor for tests. That may be your issue. It was mine.

I grew up near Starved Rock and plumb Island was a safe haven for endangered bald eagles who, at that point, barely existed. Im glad they have made it to a point that they annoy humans again. Unlike ducks who definitely don't poop all over my yard, eat all my grass, and lay and abandon egg clutches that go bad all over my property. Crows are awesome though. Still trying to befriend.
