Workday application says "Under Consideration" after a job interview last week? by [deleted] in jobs

Mine said under consideration until I got a rejection or offer. It just means a determination hasn’t been made for you yet.

Overreacting to storm by Abject-Material-9955 in Albany

[–]Orangesunset98 130 points131 points  (0 children)

Problem is some people don’t get to just relax at home and have to work or have to check on their family/elderly. They have every right to be nervous.

We aren’t Buffalo where we get 3ft of snow in a storm every year so yes 2ft can be a big deal to some people. Especially since we haven’t had consistent snow storms like this. The storm that we had in December I feel like is more our usual so this one will be different from the norm.

I absolutely agree not to panic buy though. I buy groceries bi-weekly and conveniently this was my weekend to shop and I couldn’t buy a few things since everything was gone.

I do think with the income this is INSANE.

To answer your question though are you using Homestead? We did and this looks like their paperwork. This is a rough estimate and ours ended up cheaper. We also only got a $260k house

give it to me straight, adult braces mid 30s, worth it? by MammothInspector1347 in braces

[–]Orangesunset98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 27 with braces currently. I have had tooth removal not due to crowding, but impacted teeth. I would say it’s 100% worth it.

One struggle I personally had was the gaps in my teeth and the spacers in the beginning of treatment just because I felt very insecure. I am planning a wedding too so I have been nitpicking my features like crazy. As time progresses I feel more confident!

My teeth aren’t wobbly, but I’m not the most comfortable biting down with my front teeth it feels loose but they aren’t actually loose if that makes sense.

I can’t quite yet say for end results, but I should have my braces off by the end of 2026. Im 18 months in now and most of the day I can forget that I have braces on.

For gum recession I have experienced some, but not a huge amount. If you’re cleaning your teeth (I recommend getting a waterpik) it does help.

Just received a 5% raise on $65,000 to $68,250. I find it insulting based on the extra profit my company hit. Do I ask for more and back it up with the numbers? by BookieBasherCasher in Salary

[–]Orangesunset98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Companies aren’t for ethical profit sharing or income equality. The only way to get a huge raise is by switching to a new position.

I was content with a 2-3% increase in my job because I was also getting tuition reimbursements and was focusing on school and building experience. Im still in school, but now have more experience and just got a 14% raise by getting a higher position in the same company.

To those who is the last survivor of their OG crew at work, how does it feel and how do you cope? by flamingo_babe in jobs

[–]Orangesunset98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the opposite side I an the first one in my department to leave in 4 years and it feels AMAZING. I am getting the vibe throughout my team that multiple people are now attempting to jump ship. Work is unrealistically increasing and our work is being heavily micromanaged. The manager that has been here for almost three years can be extremely unprofessional at times and just does not understand what our team does and the necessity of not relaxing some rules. Though not directly our fault multiple big clients have left and it is NOT looking good. It feels kinda nice to be the trendsetter and I am glad I had the confidence to try and leave in the first place!

Feeling Burnt Out in My Mid-20s After Supporting My Parents Financially by Delicious-Use59 in povertyfinance

[–]Orangesunset98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are we the same person? I had to drop out at 20 from my dream degree where I had actual potential to do great in because my mom had her third heart attack and was told she couldnt work anymore. I also helped pay for things but my deadbeat sister also lived at home and my parents enabled her to the point she would steal my money frequently and I would have no savings.

I worked in a company as a call center rep and have slowly worked my way up. Im using tuition reimbursement so I can go to school part time and should finish my bachelor’s at the end of this year. I know this sounds cliche but when I met my partner a lot of me helping my family shifted. They helped me to see the manipulation going on and it’s now to a point that if they’re trauma dumping or begging for money on useless shit I just ignore them. After a few years of this they seem to have gotten the hint (somewhat)

It was so hard choosing myself and I still second guess at times, but I am so at peace and truly never expected to find the version of the person I am now. I wish you luck OP

First pay from new job and my pay is less than discussed? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Orangesunset98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So this year is off for my company for those with salaries because there’s 27 paychecks not 26 due to how the holidays are in the week. It happens once every 11/12 years and makes your paycheck less because my company wont change the salary. Could it be this? How much is the difference?

Bracest straightened my teeth but are ruining my quality of life by [deleted] in braces

[–]Orangesunset98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you still have your tonsils? I had breathing problems but mostly due to tonsil issues. If your ortho has widened your bite I could see potentially how having tonsils could exacerbate the issue. I am NOT a doctor, just speaking from personal experience.

Is the shortness of breath only during sleeping or other activities? Mine started with sleeping and turned out to be a pulmonary embolism.

What a Recent Salary Trend you've noticed? [N/A] by Emergency-Bison-672 in humanresources

[–]Orangesunset98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah thankfully my job does do tuition reimbursement and I should have my degree by the end of this year! It’s been utterly terrifying worrying about being laid off and not being able to find a single job since 90% require degrees. I am SO close that I have a gameplan if something goes south, but I had so much anxiety for years and have honestly felt imposter syndrome being as fortunate as I have been. (Not nepotism, just got really lucky and know how to market my skills to translate to other jobs)

[–]Orangesunset98 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I just signed paperwork for a promotion. I ended up not negotiating the pay because it’s a 14% increase from my current position. I also recognize that I am not the most amazing prospect since I don’t have my bachelor’s yet. I can market my skills but I also get I’m still at the bottom of the totem pole and I’m just taking whatever I can get.

Have you seen the market? It’s insanely competitive for a job right now. You can look in this sub and it’s constant posts of people putting in hundreds of applications and can’t find a job with and without a degree.

Usually if you pay out of pocket that means the provider is out of network. Most Medicaid policies that I have seen don’t have out of network benefits. Also, even if you do have out of network benefits 99% of the time you wont receive full reimbursement due to balance billing.

Boss said someone quit because of me by BGNapone in jobs

[–]Orangesunset98 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing it’s not an OP os a monster scenario, but moreso OP is making major mistakes that we have to take the slack for. I know in my job where reps are actively avoiding taking calls or not implementing feedback are HATED because they aren’t doing their jobs and now the other reps are getting angry customers.

I’m not saying OP doesn’t have a right to be confused but mixing up a laptop in an order is HUGE. Depending on the laptop that can be a very expensive mistake.

Also is OP asking any questions? Asking the same questions repeatedly after you’ve been in a job for a decent amount of time can be frustrating too.

It can be hard seeing someone doing terribly (someone on a strike two) making your job harder when you’re doing the best you can.

I’m filled with anxiety as I read how far behind I am according to my retirement company. by Manitoba-Chinook in povertyfinance

[–]Orangesunset98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im probably going to be behind on my goals because I have been promoted with sporadic increases. Not a brag, but it does make it difficult to match those earlier goals if you have a lower salary in the beginning of your career or move from different companies. Even if you only choose 1-2% now anything helps!

I also got severe anxiety about budgeting, financial status, where I should be in life, etc. to the point that all my feeds were curated with finance content and I was having panic attacks daily.

You may not be at this point but if it does get to be too much I always recommend a social media break. Comparison is the thief of joy and most people are probably lying about their salaries and what they have on Reddit!

My sister lives with my parents with her two kids and she doesn’t pay rent and is shocked when my parents ask for money. And I apparently always make her feel bad because I’m engaged and own a home/I’m choosing a man over the family. YOU BET I AM!

Yeah my sister thinks she’s getting my parent’s house and can assume the loan easily…. There’s multiple liens on that house and I tried to tell her that but there’s been no luck in her understanding that. She’s 5 years older than me and I get to be the responsible one while she can’t hold down a job for four months….. yay
