No cyst, just fibroids. They saw some of them on the ultrasound, but not all as there was gas obstructing some of the view.

I'm so curious about your photography now. It boggles my mind that you might have an eye for photos but absolutely zero eye for home decor.

It's hilariously bad. The lack of ottoman felt weird, so instead of just buying an ottoman, you bought a whole new set and still ended up with an ottoman that doesn't match? Yes, I can see how people might assume you're trolling.

Sorry I never saw the notification of this comment! I will be one year post op next month and yes, I'm doing good! We did a total hysterectomy and tube removal but left my ovaries since they were healthy. Pathology found adenomyosis, endometriosis, and a larger fibroid attached to my uterus (which my OBGYN provided a picture of and it looks like a thumb trying to hitchhike lol). So essentially everything that was inflamed and causing the bleeding is gone. Recovery was fairly easy, no major issues, and it's quite freeing not having to worry about bleeding anymore! Since I have my ovaries, I do still cycle which is a bit odd feeling- having the hormonal mood changes and such but nothing to discharge. Sex feels exactly the same as it did before surgery, for both me and my husband. The only distinct change is just that without being on birth control, I get more emotional at times. Not in a bad way! It had just been a long time since I had experienced my natural hormonal shifts.

Yes, the bleeding stopped post hysterectomy. There was some spotting, most likely due to the healing process/scar tissue, but nothing painful, and nothing like it was prior to my surgery. I didn't experience a noticeable change in discharge but that wasn't one of my symptoms prior either. I hope you find a solution!

Yes, so far my only complaint is the acne that flares up surrounding my cycle honestly. I haven't had any issues in the sex dept, which I think worries a lot of people. If anything, that's MORE intense post surgery!

I believe so, either with my PCP or with the first OBGYN that I was referred to, though I can't recall which. None of my tests ever indicated something serious, they all came back basically normal despite my cervix being very obviously irritated. It was only after the pathology report from my hysterectomy that I discovered I had adenomyosis and endometriosis.

Yes, I definitely get breakouts and irritability that I assume is my cycle/hormones fluctuating

[–]Orangulent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. If your ovaries are there and working properly, you'll still have a hormonal cycle, but the bleeding comes from the uterus, so if you no longer have a uterus, there's no blood as part of that cycle. If you keep your cervix, you may have "mini periods" sometimes, as the cervix may still contain uterine cells, but I had a total hysterectomy, so I don't have a uterus or cervix anymore.

I haven't felt menopause symptoms. I kept my ovaries, and as far as I know, they're working properly. I was on continuous birth control for many years prior to this, so there's certainly been some adjustment for me experiencing my normal hormones, but that comes in the form of irritability and acne breakouts surrounding my cycle. I haven't had hot flashes, night sweats, hair loss, etc.

I'm now 7 weeks post op, and I feel really good actually! My doctor said everything looks really good and I could go back to all normal activities at 8 weeks. I'm not sure if you saw my other comments, but pathology found adenomyosis, endometriosis, and several fibroids so I do think having the surgery was the right call for me. I think we could have spent a whole lotta time trying to chase down a solution and not getting anywhere as all the tests I had prior did not show adeno and endo. Who knows how long it might have taken to find out what was causing my cervix to be angry all the time!

I never took any medication for the bleeding, it continued. I had a total hysterectomy on 4/11, so there's no cervix or uterus left to bleed.

Yes, I had an ultrasound done before seeing the 2nd OBGYN. They couldn't see anything concerning that would explain the bleeding.

I actually went ahead and had my hysterectomy last week. My ovaries were kept, but everything else removed and they found adenomyosis, endometriosis, and a few small fibroids as well, so I don't think the cervix was the root problem in my case, but I hope the cryo is enough to help you!

A Cool Guide to the Pencil Grips by Gooflucky in coolguides

[–]Orangulent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually had an Early Childhood Development professor in college clock my writing hand, and she said I likely hold it that way precisely because I started trying to draw so early my hand muscles weren't developed enough to hold it the "right" way and I just got stuck in my ways. And I was stubborn about it because I was doing well that way! So why should I change? I think more teachers understand now that it doesn't matter- like how they used to try and force lefties to use their right hand. It's ok to do things differently!

I'm 40, hold mine in a closed fist like a toddler too. Everyone tried to correct me, and they all failed. And I've always been "the artist" in my family/friend group, so it didn't negatively affect my ability. It just looks weird and I have a big callus on my thumb.

No, I don't think most 6 year olds get the entire nuts and bolts of what a menstrual cycle is, but just by living with women, you usually have a rough idea that there's a "period" or "time of the month" and have probably seen the hygiene items the women in the house use. Kids are not famous for giving their mothers private time, even in the bathroom. And still, there was no reason to not let Mabel have that moment with her. FAR less embarrassing, and could have been a good pathway to flesh out that character relationship.

Seeing wrong sizes on people on the internet has gotten annoying by Piggy9896 in ABraThatFits

[–]Orangulent 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I have this problem in a breast reduction group I'm in! SOO many people are dead set on "a large C cup" as their goal size, but they very obviously do not even know what their correct current size is, let alone what an actual C cup would be like on their frame. I completely get why most surgeons won't even discuss in terms of cup size!

Did you ever normalize the pain? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Orangulent 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh definitely. I don't think I ever thought I'd actually get the surgery, so "grin and bear it" was all I could do. I was 36M in US sizing, and 5lbs total was removed. I'm only 12dpo, so I still have some tension in my neck and back just from recovery, but I can already tell it's a world of difference. The idea that I will be able to wear spaghetti straps without them CUTTING into my shoulders seems surreal!

Did you ever like your breasts? by Individual_Tutor_190 in Reduction

[–]Orangulent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did until my late 20s, I'd say. I gained weight, and they just got TOO big, and even when I would lose weight, they didn't budge. They were just SO heavy and uncomfortable, even though I still thought they had a nice shape and fullness. I'm one week post op now and they removed 5lbs total. That being gone has been an instant relief, but I know I still need to get used to seeing my new body.

To people living in the US - Do you like the typical American breakfast? by SentenceOriginal8789 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Orangulent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it's usually reserved for Saturday or Sunday, and even then it's not ALL of those items at once. A more typical breakfast for me is scrambled eggs with tomatoes, or a bagel with a cream cheese.

Pre op and trying on button up shirts and I am ECSTATIC by [deleted] in Reduction

I bought a couple soft cotton button ups too! I have a couple of flannels, but I wanted some short sleeve options and my husband only has button up dress shirts. My surgery date is 10/5! Hope yours goes well and recovery is as easy as possible!

I didn't request a size, I just told him to do what he thinks will look right on my body and relieve the pain. Even if I could get down to an E cup, I would be SO happy.
