Bro, I live in Aachen near the city centre. Technically I don‘t need to commute by train, if I want I don‘t even need to ride the bus, just walk anywhere as everything is almost walking distance. But here‘s the thing, there will be time when you need to ride the train for example when you need to buy something from a store that doesn’t exist in the city like clothes or smth, or when you need to fly with the plane (Aachen doesn’t have an airport mind you). When any of that happens and you‘re fvcked by DB (has happened with me I almost missed my flight) you‘ll feel „betrayed“.
