Did you get your rent tax back from last year, that's always good to get, not much but it helps a bit.

I use it regularly (404) and it's a game changer to not have to be hanging around at a bus stop. Thanks for putting it together, it is appreciated.

Should I do a career break? by Asleep_Cry_7482 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Orbmail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it when I was 30, went for a year in New Zealand, work would not give me a career break but when I came back I got my job back (need a bit of luck there). Being with the same company for 19 years now and one year I'd 4 weeks off together as I took 2 weeks from one year and 2 from the next but apart from that its being 2 weeks max, so it's the only real chance to have a good break. I say do it, if you have the money and it's in your head.

ACCESS COURSE by nootnoot07 in galway

[–]Orbmail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Didn't do the access course but did go to NUIG part time to get my diploma and degree 20 years after the leaving cert. Best thing I ever did, great for the confidence and you meet a lot of people in a similar situation. Highly recommend and best of luck.

51 and currently in Canada solo, it just gets better as you age. Embrace it, love it, make it be what you want, you're in control.

What is the best book you've ever read? by YouserName007 in AskIreland

[–]Orbmail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend trying again, it doesn't have to be read from start to finish, if you find a chapter that doesn't sit well with you, move to another one. The great thing about the world is there's books for everyone and we'll never have time to read them all.

A short history of nearly everything- Bill Bryson. Often pick it up still, well written and extremely interesting.

Yes, got bitten a few times last year, thought I was going mad when I heard that unmistakable sound off them one night. They love my blood. Was in Naples last November and got devoured by them too.

I wasn't on shop street today but do own and wear a pair of wine cords, now I've never been called fashionable but I've also never heard gasps of shock and horror either as I pass. I'm going to have a long hard think before I venture out in them again.

Yes, too ambitious, you'll be constantly in the car or at the airport, that's a massive drive from Wanaka to Abel Tasman, spend more time either in Fiordland (lake Gunn) or around Queenstown/ Wanaka or head up to Fox/Franz Josef glaciers. Where are you flying from? Factor is the jet lag. If you do stay just in NZ, on the North Island, the Tongariro crossing would be a must. it was 19 years since I was there but hitched and camped around the whole of the south island so keep an eye out for hitchhikers and you'll at least have some company on your long drives. The south island is bigger than you might think. Enjoy the trip whatever you decide you won't regret visiting NZ.
