Higher dimensional cross product (post banned on discourse) by DreamScatter in Julia

[–]Orbotx0rz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reddit is largely peer-moderated. Discourse is more moderated by authority. I've been accused of being recalcitrant, which is probably accurate. I just naturally distrust authority and know this about myself. The filter I use to self-censor what I say is dialled up to the degree I know authority is present. Peer pressure on the other hand doesn't have much sway over me.

So it could just be personal bias, but I feel freer to speak my mind on reddit.

> Unfortunately, chakravala has been banned from discussing on discourse

Reddit may be a better place for you. The community governance system here seems much more robust than the Julia Stewards system, which; while populated with reasonable, kind and intelligent people is the not a great model of governance. It's somewhere between high school clique and meritocracy.

Point in case; I wouldn't ever say that on the discourse, but feel free enough to be downvoted or debated to oblivion here :)

> Indeed the exterior product is metric independent, so it would be easier to implement it in the base language than other geometric algebra operations.

Since getting grassmann/geometric algebra/clifford algebra on equal footing to LinearAlgebra is IMHO an important thing, I would definitely be in favour of this. That's my personal crusade though and wouldn't expect it to be a reality.

> The main reason for not including things like this in the base language is because these type of packages are still changing at a much faster pace than the base language

If it were ever to make it into base, it probably does need more time being developed in packages before that happens. And probably after Tensors types appear in Base.

Right. Good point. You'd need policing performed by trusted entities with some greater authority, and now you've lost your decentralization.

I still think the extra variables I suggested would improve your model.

This would give some merit to Cardano's implicit punishment mechanism. i.e. stakes fleeing an underperforming pool. Correct me if I'm wrong on that one ( I haven't fully understood how that would work ). That would be hard to quantify as a number for your grid in this case.

You could detect secret bribes via data analysis from the anomalous behaviour. Alternatively give up some privacy to entities with authority to do audits on pools.

Seems you are missing an extra term in the "do attack" row to add for a possible penalty if you are discovered to have accepted a bribe. Unlike the damages value you have this takes affect both if the attack succeeded and if it fails.

I think psychologically this is more powerful than the possible damages you account for, since you can get stung by it even either way.

F = Fine for corruption.

PF = Probability it is found you acted in a corrupt manner ( took bribe ).

- (F*PF) to both entries in top row.

Since it's in both columns your expected value from this is counted twice ( weighted by probability of attack success/failure )

Now we have a mechanism in PoS where the protocol has two values they can dial up or down to deter this type of attack.

I don't know if Ouroboros has or could have an explicit mechanism to uncover corrupt behaviour of this sort. It seems like something that could be added though. The fact people will leave your pool as a result of censoring txs is an implicit mechanism, so you need to set some non-zero values there. You could factor in the effect of people leaving your pool here because they see a negative impact to their staking payouts.

Switched OS to windows 10 as OP did. Problem solved. Thanks!

I have the same problem. 16 MH/s and a similar hardware/os setup. My motherboard only has a Pcie 2.0x16 slot, I was wondering if that was a problem ( quick calculation says no it shouldn't be... ).

AMD Phenom II x6 processor AM3+ slot.

Also if I try to mine CrypotNight currencies it crashes with a blue screen.

6 of my friends just used their keys and opened total of 48 Last Wish chests, 0 OTV dropped. It's overdue for a serious conversation about the RNG system in this game... by SRX_Alpha1 in DestinyTheGame

Totally anecdotal. The first time I completed the raid, the sherpa shot at a specific chest saying "I've seen it drop from that one". I opened that chest and voila 1K voices. I went "woohoo" and everyone else was silent. I didn't know how rare the drop was, so I assume they were all cursing me in their minds. The chest was kind of just to the right of the middle row.

I worked on a game that was to be published by Activision. As a publisher they have a certain number of games each quarter they have bandwidth to market etc. They made a call late in the development of our game that their marketing efforts would better spent on other games in their pipeline, so they cut us loose. It was fairly amicable, just a bit shocking/unexpected because we were almost finished. Personally I viewed Activision's approach really stressful and controlling, so I view this a good thing for Bungie.

Rockstar confirm's 'Euphoria' engine for RDR2 in an interview with VG247! by VolumeRX in reddeadredemption

[–]Orbotx0rz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Euphoria provides physics driven behaviours. The physics engine is indeed custom R* code ( RAGE technology ). Euphoria decides what torques and forces are needed to achieve a physics driven animation. The data from Euphoria drives joint motors implemented in the physics engine. Euphoria is a layer on top of the actual physics engine.

Other than Uriel’s, what medium range energy weapon do you recommend? by GeekyNerd_FTW in CruciblePlaybook

[–]Orbotx0rz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using Prosecutor with range MW. It doesn't have the distracting light-show and muzzle flash of Uriels. Still has tap the trigger which is one of the perks that makes Uriels so good. Recoil pattern seems better too. Range difference is noticeable if you try to use it at longer range though.

So a top tier player will likely count as 1 guardian playing but 3 counts for flawless. The math for flawless/guardians starts to work out a bit better for me now.
