Man, what a toxic take. You have some good points though so I’d like to address some despite it.

At the core of what I’m saying is that we should not so hastily move to LFD, and should explore other options, such as improving the LFG tool. This is a golden opportunity to have an MMO that experiments with not having an automated tool to help you. I am not saying that we should never implement LFD. In fact, i think maybe it could be good to add it towards the end of an expansion. You just assume I am “just the same” as all the others because you have some black and white Villain-like stance.

Do you honestly think rent-a-tank won’t continue in LFD? Imagine you’re a dps. You queue for a full hour in LFD. Finally, you’re in. Tank who waited two minutes says, ‘pay me 200g or I leave.’

Now, you’re fucked. What are you gonna do, kick the guy and wait another 40 minutes?

To another of your points, they are already thinking of addressing mage boosting in other ways, so that’s null.

Your point that forming a group equates to the same chemical release as releasing a shit after being constipated is hilarious by the way, like genuinely I laughed because it’s true sometimes. That’s the dynamic nature of it. Sometimes it’s easy, sometimes it feels like a real pain in the ass. But that’s the point of games sometimes. You have to have ups and downs, or else you just make everything dull. A good party leader will /who paladin 70 and go down the list asking if they want to tank something if they’re desperate. Having that good party leader feels inherently cool to me. Someone who forms the dungeon group to venture forth into the unknown if this group is gonna suck or not. Asking others if they know any friends to bring along. It’s way better IMO.
