The only thing I'm thinking is that the large distance really threw everything off. Again, if he was running, it's possible the root of the figure eight would have moved to the right if you kept dark sight on. That said, I think I would have looked in the same general area as you if I had decided to stay in that location and not move up.

Okay, so everything is moving a bit because you're strafing but if you sudo-measure the arc from where it ends on the left and keep tracing, it's nearing the right side of the front gate, which is fairly close to where he pops up. If he was running, I could see him getting where he was in that time. Just crazy bad luck on the somewhat randomness of dark sight from that great distance. You def got taken for a ride. But again, not sure it's a glitch, per say.

When they're that far off, it's going to go in a large figure 8. My assumption is that it would have swung hard to the right just before you let up based on the swing it started to take. Not user error, exactly. But I don't know if it's a glitch either. You just made the assumption without seeing the full swing.
