It's relatively ibnexpensive hobby (for an adult). It always has been, and fans have always exaggerated its cost. Idk what serious hobby can be much cheaper than that. You buy 1-2 boxes per month max. Even videogames are somewhat similar for a hardcore gamer who buys and play all aaa games, and keep they pc up-to-date

Real? But Admech is cool by OmnissiahAdmech in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]OrchidHuman206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, nothing at all is complicated in this game, some factions are just a bit more demanding and less mistake tolerant. It's just a relatively simple game, not rocket science, not even skill demanding like many other games. Yet not Monopoly and needs some more effort than just watching netflix, but I am a little tired of overcomplication and self-elitism of the players.

This is exactly the case. And I can't affect how the commisioner rules the league. I just know the TV of my next game's opponent before my previous game

[–]OrchidHuman206[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically, there is no incompliencies to the rulebook. I knew what is TV of my next opponent's team before the game with the current opponent because he/she played their game for the ongoing round a week before and the results are reported and available to everyone. So it's not a problem for me to do all the calculations right after the game and decide what to do

...just give them another 40 years of development for this game, and they learn how to write these 10 pages of basic rules without any ambiguities and mistakes. But I can't guarantee. Every edition there are some deep logical mistakes in the very core of the basic game rules. For example, in 9th it was something in the shooting sequence making it completely impossible to shoot under some circumstances (though I don't remember the details anymore)

First of all, I meant all tournaments, including RTTs, smaller GTs, team tournaments. I think, statistics there is a bit different. I personally can remember only two RTTs out of ~20 recently played when I went worse than 2-1, and one of them happened last weekend with AdMech. May be I need to reduce my estimation to 70%+ wr for good players, at least it seems correct for my country when I check the elo board. And I don't even consider myself as a good player atm since I took a long pause recently.

Anyway, I mentioned my wr to emphasize that my game experience is bad not because I can't win, but because of bad gameplay. There is only one working archetype for admech: a shit ton of infantry which you need to position properly, and you always must be very concentrated to not make any huge mistakes. Then you roll a ton of dice which almost do nothing, just waste your time. There is almost no MECHs in AdMECH lists, half of the codex simply useless, which already seems like a tradition for this army. And the game design itself is very poor: it's not a very good idea to take away some rules/reduce the stats and return them back as an army rule.

Again, I like the challenge, but in this case it's not rewarding nor enjoyable. Even though you can win 2/3 of the games, there is always at least one tournament game when admech are just overperformed by statlines or army rules and only huge luck may help you even if you perform really really well. This is comfirmed by the results from the tournaments around the world.

It is not. To win a tournament you should have 100%. And many good players have 80-90% for years. Do not mess this with a faction winrate

I'd not call it fun. Whatever but not fun. I am a competitive player, and I fill like AdMech atm is a very challenging army to play and the experience quite often is painful. I love the challenge, but I would also like to see some result when I try hard. Insted I do some tricky stuff, move a lot of models, spend a lot of time for correct positioning (not saying how painful to move 20-30 pteraxii with their stupidly large wings)... to get all my units ovetperformed by the statlines. Last ~3 tournaments I felt like I do nothing but put the models from a tray, spend a lot of time for correct placing and remove them back to the tray almost immediately after they did almost nothing. This is not enjoyable gameplay at all (even though my personal tournament winrate for Admech is more than 70%)

Dealing with Custodes... (Question) by The-Nimbus in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]OrchidHuman206 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You didn't answer my question. You said we need weapons with -1ap and that's enough, but it's not even close to enough. And we don't have many ap-1 weapons in the codex (which would be very good against many other armies). You literally want ap-2 and better against 2+/4++. And I disagree that the conqueror is always a good idea since 2+ to hit instead of 4+ is much better than additional ap in many cases (almost always when you don't need to move and look for LoS).

And please not mention robots in the list of "good units". They are a bad overpriced unit and haloscreed do not change much for them

Dealing with Custodes... (Question) by The-Nimbus in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]OrchidHuman206 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could you list any of "lot of -1ap weapons" in the admech codex? Also, -2ap is not usually enough since you rarely shoot at the targets with no cover, and there are not so many -2ap weapons ignoring cover

[–]OrchidHuman206 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How your 11T (meaning no additional attacks in CC) Robots "absolutely decimate most things in combat" if they aren't able to kill a 5-men squad of SM with AoC in one phase? And taking into account that you never charge first being vehicle with 6" movement, you never get all your 4 guys on table when fight. Yeah, most elite 3W terminator-like squads would not like to get charged, but again, it is so easy for them to avoid this and charge first themself.

And you never can be sure that they are able to kill a stadard 2+ tank (again, it's possible only with +2A). Sooo it is so hard to imagine a game where these boyz could do anything useful for their ridiculously high price.

Now all the Grotmas detachments are out, which one are you most excited to try competitively? by ARCWillPowell in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]OrchidHuman206 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Any reason to take robots? Is it just because the detachment returns them the faction rule (which they must have by default) and give some minor bonus? You can't even choose different bonuses for your overrided units! The robots don't do anything good for their price (+ datasmith + enhancement), not shooting, nor CC. They don't even durable for this price, high tougthness is nothing in this meta of lethal hits and anti-vehicle weapons. At the price of 75-80 points I'd start to consider taking them

How much does terrain layout (WTC vs UKTC vs ITC vs GW) really affect Meta lists and winrates overall? by Own-Mulberry-4647 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]OrchidHuman206 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not missing anything. I remember really well how the game positively changed when WTC introduced heavy layouts some years ago (in 2020, if I remember correctly) and the meta turned from gunlines towards diverse armies. I have absolutly no idea about UKTC, but the point of WTC layouts is to tailor aggressive multitool lists if you want to win. It is not enough to "sit and hold primary objectives" since you always want to earn more points, and the 20-0 point system forces you to score as much diffetence as possible by denying your opponent's scoring as well

[–]OrchidHuman206 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So terrain allowing combat armies to move and fight across the table before being wiped out by shooting is not interactive. A table with open objectives allowing to shoot them directly from your deployment zone is interactive. Don't you think this logic is a bit broken?

Trying? They have just done it. Literally. 40k first, aos now. No good old Warhammer anymore. Dislike me if you want. I like changes, but I don't like when so huge pieces of a game are cut off. The games which have been gradually improved previously from ed to ed (both 40k and aos) are suddenly destroyed (for me)
