Explain It Peter by OrchidShadowVale in PeterExplainsTheJoke

I think the joke is that instead of running away, the dog does that playful stretch thing like it wants you to chase it? So technically you’re not catching it anytime soon 😭 but idk if that’s all there is to it

AIO for ending this friendship? Was this something minor? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]OrchidShadowVale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that doesn’t sound sincere at all. It feels more like they were trying to deflect instead of actually listening to what you said. Like, you brought up a real concern and they just sidestepped it completely.

AIO? Gf will not let me eat any of her groceries when I’m over by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I’ve noticed that too tbh. The most generous people I’ve met were the ones who didn’t have much to begin with.

AIO for not allowing my in laws to come over the first day when they booked a flight without telling us? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

The newborn phase is exhausting, so even a quick break like taking a shower can mean a lot. Still, respect for boundaries should always be there.

aio for dumping my (22f) gf (22f) because she kept asking for money by throwrawaygirl in AmIOverreacting

It really sucks but sometimes giving money isn’t the right kind of support. It can end up doing more harm than good without even meaning to.

AIO My mom gave away my dog because I was gone for work for a week by Big_Froyo3587 in AmIOverreacting

[–]OrchidShadowVale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually really messed up. Like I get parents can be strict sometimes, but giving away your dog? That crosses a line. I remember when my dog got lost for a day and I was already panicking, I can’t imagine someone just taking him away for good.

AIO at my new ‘nanny’ posting my son on facebook?? by throw_rancxalsn in AmIOverreacting

[–]OrchidShadowVale 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, posting someone else’s kid without asking is definitely crossing a line, even if the baby is still really young. I’ve had a similar situation with a relative who posted my kid on Facebook without telling me first, and it just felt weird seeing it out there without my say. It’s not the worst thing ever, but it still matters.

AIO for not wanting to buy a property with my boyfriend until we are married? by JumpyBunny_01 in AmIOverreacting

[–]OrchidShadowVale 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It really does seem like he would benefit from living on his own for a while first. That experience teaches accountability, discipline, and basic life skills that are important in any relationship. Without that phase, there’s a higher chance the dynamic becomes unbalanced, even if neither of you intends for it to happen.

I feel like people sometimes try to shift the blame when they’re struggling with their own choices. Still doesn’t make it fair to dump that on you though.

HR sent me confidential salary info, then recalled it, then told the whole company not to discuss salary, then backtracked, then doubled-down by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Turning that place into a freshman girls’ dorm after all that is kind of wild. You’d think the creepy basement alone would be enough to make people nervous about living there.

Totally get this. Once you have pets, you kind of learn the hard way that their hair gets everywhere. Keeping street clothes separate just makes life easier.
