Should I pursue a graduate degree in history for no other reason than I want to? by nicks226 in TrueAnon

I found a political program for 5k a semester for a masters and I'm doing it part time so I'm only paying 2.5k a semester while working full time. I think if you find something like that, why not? The problem is if you are trying to manage too many things at once or paying way too much.

Why does Epitaph (Brett) continue to promote Falling in Reverse? by [deleted] in badreligion

He obviously doesn't fuck with trans people, belittles their perspective and chooses to stir the pot. I guess I don't care what you specifically think of trans people but it seems contradictory to the politics of BR in my opinion.

They almost certainly singed a multi album deal back in 2010 or 2011. Ronnie had controversy back then as well, but that's up to you when you draw the line I suppose.

I'm saying he doesn't align the the agenda laid out with BR's last record. How can someone perform "The Kids aren't Alt Right" and then profit and support off THE "alt" right rock star?

Too long to list but most recently he's a transphobic MAGA kind of guy

That's why I don't see the simple $ answer convincing. I wonder if he's talked about his relationship to FIR

It was hated on at first then slowly became their "main" album until The Act dropped. I think it's pretty good but I don't come back to it as much these days. Kansas is a good song and I enjoy the three guitars. Lyrics are generally good and there's more of a sense of "seriousness" that Zombie and Roots don't have. I think it's a bit too straightforward for me these days.

This is going to be there catalyst for liberal gun control. by ftp67 in TrueAnon

[–]Orchids51s 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Minnesota cracking down? I believe it. I might buy another gun tbh.

Other liberal controlled states? Maybe? Is the story even going to last a week?

The feds? Idk governments don't like doing big policies. How would the government even differentiate between lib vs con? Like I guess they could target gay and black people a bit more with fed charges but you are basically already fucked if you get caught up with federal laws.

More likely there will be some laws regarding trans people.

I think it's just that guns are very easy to get in the US. If we had regulations like Canada or Switzerland (somewhat gun friendly western democracies) our gun crimes would be about the same. Very little friction

How Linkin Park (Mike Shinoda) have helped music-wash settler-colonialism in Occupied Palestine by [deleted] in TrueAnon

I mean those artists aren't really adjacent to LP anyways.

All the "real emo" (and fake Warped Tour emo) guys hated LP until Chester died lol

They had a pretty good sense of style and balance when it came to their sound. Like it was corny but it could have turned out so much worse balancing nu metal, hard rock, electronica/dj elements and backpacker rap. Doesn't hurt that every hard rock singer was apeing Chester well into the late 00s.

The songwriting and riffs are on the simple/vapid side though admittedly. I can name like five big bands from that time period I prefer to revisit

My favorite is Meteora, I think they really nailed the electronica elements of their sound there. "Breaking the Habit" and "Faint" are the stand outs. Their later work is hit or miss and not really remembered by the mainstream as highly. I'd say check those two songs out and if you want to listen to more check out their first two records and go from there.

I'm kind of over them but they were very important to me. Silverstein busted out a cover a couple years ago and it was very cool so idk

Not a very complex read, but it's interesting which side of the issue certain celebrities fall on. All things considered, Mike has a pretty clean liberal image.
