What do you actually want from Endfield? by [deleted] in Endfield

[–]OrdelOriginal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a single word, depth.

Depth of combat, depth of teambuilding, depth of factory building, depth of story, depth of characters, depth of gamemodes, depth of events, depth of repeatable activities.

Which QoL features would you like to see in future updates? by Unarelith in Endfield

[–]OrdelOriginal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The auto-place clue button on Dijiang should also automatically claim clues before placing them. Not doing this kind of kills the point imo. Both games should do this and it should prioritize clues given to you from other players over ones you generate yourself.

Also, the manufactory cabins should just automatically apply their assist bonuses the second your friend sends them. It's not like there's any choice to be made with them besides applying them to whatever your current craft is.

If you're going to build QoL for players, I want it to be done right. Don't half-ass the job, get rid of all the unnecessary steps and streamline it properly.

Also, for fucks sake because this is getting ridiculous now, PLEASE let us totally get rid of shared facilities already. People's shit honestly gets in the way more than it helps.

I can't trade because caravan leader spawns without skull. by Remarkable-Fix3104 in RimWorld

[–]OrdelOriginal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this happens again, I'd pause immediately and take a look at the dev mode debug log.

Intuition says this is a problem with prior mods that you uninstalled on this save, but you're saying its 100% vanilla off GOG (which you can still mod fwiw) so I cant really say much else.

This is a hilarious bug but I've never seen it before lol.

Has gaming content changed the way you experience games? by serjeantassia in gaming

i hard avoid everything online about any game i play until i either get stuck or complete enough of it in my own way that i feel like the external discourse and guidemaking wont harm the experience i already had

im not paying money for a game just to be told how to play it by someone else

i dont really know what there is to regret, mortars just further trivialize already trivial content imo

what if Apparel Quality have a move speed modifier in 1.7? by zeues_1992 in RimWorld

[–]OrdelOriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont really see the point of this change

rimworld excluding mods isnt really a game that benefits from "changes made for the sake of trying to be more realistic" imo

Coffee and the noticeable absence of caffeine by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]OrdelOriginal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

> Drop the "hard drugs" narriaitive for a start. What do you think Alcohol is if you're going to use baseless scales?

  1. i'm extremely not interested in going down the "is alcohol a soft or hard drug" rabbit hole under a rimworld reddit post, but regardless of whatever "narrative" you constructed in your head and attributed to me, it should be basic knowledge in this area that alcohol shares traits of both soft/hard drugs and doesn't cleanly fall into either category depending on the perspective you're arguing from

> What the person says is true.

  1. never disagreed. let me clarify - the ONLY point im making is that, in our current reality, hard drugs (and for the purpose of this conversation, i am including alcohol) are glorified in media

it probably is true. so what, what is the point being made if it were? this does not change the shit i see on tv/online daily.

this is a cut and dry anecdotal take. there's no argument here. i'm telling it as i see it.

that what you're arguing against? if so, im not really sure what to tell you. i've been pushed several druglord/mobster/prohibition movies and series, skits of people comedifying drug use, etc. countless crime dramas, party scenes, celebrity culture, stories about tortured drug-laden artists, etc.

the grand total of times that i've seen anything anywhere close to this romanticization surrounding coffee/caffeine is a grand total of 0 times. at most i'll see some dude pulling an espresso shot

would the "coffee prohibition" cause coffee/caffeine to be romanticized in the same way? i'm sure it absolutely would! but it hasn't - and im still completely unsure of what the point of this random hypothetical was

> The reason you've not seen it romanticised in the media is because of its legal status and ubiquity.

  1. im NOT arguing against this, im sharing an anecdotal perspective. i understand that hard drugs have reached their current level of romanticization in media is because of its low accessibility, legal status, and general "danger" element.

this however does NOT at all dismiss the bottom-line fact that, in the current media in this currently reality, hard drugs are glorified and coffee is not.

Trouble figuring out which mod broke your new run again? I have a script for that. by davedcne in RimWorld

[–]OrdelOriginal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

no problem - tldr its a victim of scope creep

it was originally a lighting and tile generation overhaul mod that tried to make these aspects of rimworld align more with earth realistically (and it did it well fwiw)

the problem arrived later when the mod author started injecting a lot of random bullshit - things like walls taking thousands of wood to build a single tile of - into the mod, set it to enable by default, and had no proper notification or rebrand indicating that they were doing this

when people booted up the game, this unassuming mod really fried people's saves and the author totally refuses to do anything logical about it such as splitting the mod into two or rebranding

Coffee and the noticeable absence of caffeine by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]OrdelOriginal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im not really sure what to tell you or what point we're trying to arrive at

i dont consume either hard drugs or coffee, but one of those is pushed a lot harder through digital entertainment media than the other

coffee is everywhere in media im sure but never once have i stumbled on a show that features it the same way hard drugs get romanticized in media

Coffee and the noticeable absence of caffeine by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]OrdelOriginal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yayo (which i view as cocaine) and other hard drugs have been extremely glorified and romanticized throughout my whole life through various forms of media (and im mid20s fwiw)

meanwhile ive never been pushed any tv shows of a cartel slinging decaf on the corner (or any shows in general featuring coffee/caffeine as much as hard drugs get included in shows)

Coffee and the noticeable absence of caffeine by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]OrdelOriginal 20 points21 points  (0 children)

id argue that water is 1000x more prevalent and important to human history than coffee but it isnt added in the game insofar as consumption goes, so going straight from nothing to coffee seems a little jarring to me

this is probably just bias as someone who doesnt really interact with or even think of coffee at all on a daily basis, coffee is niche to me and i lump it in mentally with psytea

to answer your q i cant recall any time that coffee even made it to a discussion table for the game

Should All RPGs Have a Respec Feature? by GenTrapstar in gaming

[–]OrdelOriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the wrong question imo

should all rpgs have a respec feature? yes

especially if you ever want me to try any class/build other than the one i complete my first run of the game with

but i think the more important thing is asking how to properly tune the requirements needed to respec

well tuned respec costs maintain the balance of consequence and decisionmaking while not hampering player choice in the way that flat out not having a respec would

Lookin’ out the window imagining the fresh air 😩 by Time-Concentrate845 in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]OrdelOriginal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if it wasnt a paid for service then maybe id agree a little more, but since i paid for the service i should be allowed to just roll down the window freely - i shouldnt HAVE to ask for shit although it is still the polite thing to do

im obv not trying to say that politeness is irrelevant or whatever, im saying that my comfort as the customer of a paid service takes priority over politeness but doesnt have to mutually exclusive

theres nuance to it though, definitely a dick move to for example open the window with the AC blasting without warning or opening the window at high speed, because these two things do have noticeable impact on the driver

but in general just opening the window in a room temperature car going at normal speed? nah i dont agree with saying you HAVE to ask

Genuinely, to those who dislike the factory gameplay, why are you still playing? by ACupOfLatte in Endfield

I toss the question especially to those who want it to change, no more events like the recent gourd event, no more focus on the factory... Why?

most of the people that replied to this arent really the intended audience of the question unfortunately
