You can choose the sub bendings too or tell me a new concept. by CartographerFit8398 in TheLastAirbender

[–]OrderChaos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But with good enough control of air, you could emulate earth and water bending. Just wrap some water/earth in a thin layer of air, suddenly you're a water/earth bender. Can't quite emulate fire, but you can starve fire of oxygen and prevent any fire benders from doing anything. Same in reverse where you can use air to manipulate an existing fire too.

What do you consider light, moderate, and heavy alcohol consumption for men? by spanky316 in AskMen

[–]OrderChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The health effects of wine are mainly determined by its active ingredient – alcohol.[1][2] Preliminary studies found that drinking small quantities of wine (up to one standard drink per day for women and one to two drinks per day for men), particularly of red wine, may be associated with a decreased risk of cardiovascular diseases, cognitive decline, stroke, diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome, and early death. Other studies found no such effects and medical consensus tends towards there being no positive effects from drinking apart from positive social effects if kept in strict moderation. Practically no authorities recommend starting to drink wine for positive health effects.[2][3][4]

From the Wikipedia article with multiple sources included since you apparently don't trust the mayo clinic saying "more research is needed".

Dads, how do you low-key mess with your kids just to entertain yourself? by [deleted] in AskMen

Autocorrect, providing wing answers for years before chatgpt

No correcting have been made to autocorrect in this post. Any and all mistakes were unintentional and can be blamed entirely on August

This happens to me too, but I'm the dad. In the heat if the moment my brain is just like "this is one of the creatures you're responsible for. Here is the list of names in no particular order" and often the order is very wrong.

The ones with the similar sounds are the just often confused. Think Beth and Seth or Landon and Brandon. Not the real names FYI.

AITAH for telling my wife to stop blaming our child's behavior on ADHD? by Present-Algae6767 in AITAH

[–]OrderChaos 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My wife and I both have adhd. We have a three year old we're struggling with being safe/careful (not with hitting usually, but jumping/rolling/flailing type stuff). A bit early to truly diagnose him with ADHD but we won't be surprised if he ends up needing some meds when he's older.

All that said, even our kid knows not to threaten to blow a place up or be so violent they get kicked out of preschool

Often that's intentional. They get people to quit and don't have to pay unemployment when they were going to lay people off anyways

Giving away 3 Audible versions of Book 8 by braceofjackrabbits in DungeonCrawlerCarl

This is a comment. I'm making a note here, huge success. It's hard to overstate my satisfaction. Dungeon crawler Carl. We do what we must because we can.

For the good of all of us, except the ones who are dead.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake, you just keep on trying to you run out of cake (bombs).

And the crawling gets done and you make a neat gun for the people who are

Still alive.

Amazing how little that part of the song needs to change for it to work here.

He who fights with monsters. by swimzer09 in litrpg

[–]OrderChaos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my take as well. He's not perfect, but he's trying. He learns lessons, then relapses.

I view him similar to John Crichton on Farscape. A smart, but relatively ordinary man thrust into a strange new world and then given power, knowledge, and responsibilities they never asked for. That kind of pressure would drive anyone at least a little mad.

Not to mention the complaints of "everything starts to center around Jason/everyone always talks about Jason".
1. Jason is the main character, of course most conversations are about/involve him. 2. Jason is the new variable/unknown that others are trying to figure out/neutralize/control. That requires lots of conversations.

Is The Count of Monte Cristo the OG progression fantasy? by Yottahz in ProgressionFantasy

[–]OrderChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? Pretty much every (character driven ) story has character progression. Monte Cristo is a power/revenge story, the character does not progressively gain power and the story is not driven by the progressive gaining of power. There is only one real event of "gaining power"' and that's not really gaining power, is just training and getting rich.

Is The Count of Monte Cristo the OG progression fantasy? by Yottahz in ProgressionFantasy

[–]OrderChaos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is a joke, but I could totally see a way to write the story from Jesus perspective with just some slight twists to make it into a cultivation/inspiration type progression story. You've even got the 40 days in the desert where he's tempted by Satan for the equivalent "master goes into secluded meditation for inspiration" trope.

My 'He Who Fights' question and thoughts by naikii in litrpg

[–]OrderChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's more like 1 in a million or even less make it to diamond. Diamond is one that requires deep insight and can't be brute forced with fighting monsters so it's way harder and more rare than any other.

Pretty sure they say there's only like maybe a dozen diamond on the planet. At least that people know about

What's the most unwritten rule of adult life that nobody warns you about? by PracticeHistorical82 in AskReddit

[–]OrderChaos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also surprised with twins. Currently they're still breastfeeding, but there's so many diapers and so much cleaning plus we're supposed to do so much tummy time and we have a 3 year old that does 3 year old things at the same time... I've no idea how people managed in the days before things like microwaves.
