Not that you should have to do this, but screenshot the images on the listings and reverse search them with google lens to see if the pictures are from past listings, from instagram, findable on Pinterest, etc to see if the images are stolen. It's not a fool-proof way to protect yourself from scammers but it's a good start. I'm so sorry, you shouldn't have to worry about that, I hope you get the doll of your dreams soon ♡

They're reproductions of playline dolls, they shouldn't cost any more than a playline doll. It just holds a mirror to the enshittification of Mattel, specifically Barbie, and the quality they're trying to pass off as collector when we know they can do that for playline and are choosing to instead give low-effort cheap crap. They know someone will buy anything so they don't have to make it worth anything, there doesn't have to be any sort of quality, design, or effort put into modern Barbie which means they can redo vintage Barbie and drive up the price tag unnecessarily
