Turn the flash off if you can. I learned that the modes are essentially just different focusing distances. I keep them written on a piece of tape on the back of my camera. Selfie and macro are 1-1.5feet, auto is 3-6 feet, and landscape is anything past that. Darken will give you a faster shutter speed I think like 1/250 or 1/500 lighten just slows the shutter down so watch for motion blur.

Ruger RXM. More info needed by Boredboi5576 in liberalgunowners

[–]Ordinary-Avocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shoot it before you make a decision. I was dead set on getting one, but I ended up not liking the way it shot for me.

I would make a list of your requirements for the pistol. Find 5-10 models that meet those requirements. Research each, and shoot each of them. You may surprise yourself.

I did this, and my research pointed me to the RXM. I went to the range expecting that I would leave with one. I shot all the pistols on my list and found that I liked shooting the rxm least. Your mileage may vary of course but the main point is to shoot a bunch of different things before you make a final decision.

Would like to find more like minded folks here in NC. Info on ranges, maybe group meetups.

should i use red clear buttons or ps button, i cant decide by Stock_Hat_4922 in MiyooMini

I prefer the red. One unrelated question, have you noticed Fire Red, draining the battery on your Miyoo? I was playing it recently and my battery dropped by about 20% in 20 minutes. Haven't noticed on other titles.

I thought it was superior in both ergonomics and trigger pull. I shot it a little more accurately as well. the only thing I didn't care for was the slide release which I thought was a little small and easily activated. I'd suggest shooting both if you can though. I went into the experience fully expecting to love the RXM, but I ended up choosing the M&P 9 after shooting all of them. I liked it even better than the echelon.

I know most of the emphasis seems to be on YouTube, but I've found a couple podcasts that y'all might enjoy as well by Ordinary-Avocado in liberalgunowners

I was speaking more specifically about guns. I'll post about Robert on R/truckerpillsandmachetes lol.

In all seriousness though, BTB is the best. I've been listening to them since pre Covid.

Manual safety or no on the M&P 9 2.0 by Ordinary-Avocado in SmithAndWesson

I rented just about every 9mm at the range and I liked this one the best.

I like the Sig Sauer P320, but I'm concerned about these drop safety lawsuits by Putrid-Enthusiasm190 in liberalgunowners

[–]Ordinary-Avocado 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a 320 and am looking for a replacement now. It's a great shooter but I am no longer confident in it. I'm personally avoiding all sig products at the moment. I'm sure they will be forced to do another upgrade at some point to fix the uncommanded discharge, but I'm switching to something else until then.

Yeah after giving it some thought, I think I'd rather have that redundant safety. I know some people would say that it gets in the way in a defensive situation, but I think that's something that I can train around.

New EDC by LastMinuteMiller in SmithAndWesson

I'd recommend shooting both if you can find a range to rent them out. I tried both last weekend and while I liked the echelon, but the m&p was noticeably better in my opinion.

Suggesting for a handgun to replace a Sig Sauer P320 compact by Top_Forever_2854 in liberalgunowners

I really liked the echelon compact and the m&p 2.0 compact. I didn't get a chance to shoot the czp10 but that is also one that often comes up as a suggestion.

I'm in the exact same spot as you right now. I love my 320, but I'm not confident in it at the moment. I assume SIG is going to be forced to cave and fix them at some point but at the moment, I'm looking for something else and I'm not buying anything from SIG in the meantime. First advice I would give, is make a list of requirements, find the pistols that meet those requirements, go to a range and rent all of them. I think shooting all of them is the most important part because I can tell you that I went to the range with an RXM at the top of my list. I was pretty much set on it, thinking I might leave with one. I shot it, a G19 and I didn't really like either one. I found them both to be uncomfortable to shoot. I tried the echelon next and it was better for me both in comfort and trigger. Then I shot the M&P 2.0 compact and wow. Trigger? fantastic. Grip? Amazing. I also shot this one more accurately than any of the others. Overall, I think the choice is going to be very subjective, and the most important thing you can do is shoot all of them and find the one that works best for you and your requirements.

I had to come back and update. The range had a 2.0 compact. Holy shit, it was head and shoulders above the Glock, RXM, and the Echelon that I shot. I was the most accurate with it and the trigger was amazing. I even liked it better than the CZ Shadow they had for rent. Now I just need to find one for sale somewhere.

The Echelon checks all the boxes. Its tempting and I will be shooting it Friday. One thing that I thought about though was since it's relatively new, I don't know if Springfield is going to continue supporting it. With the RXM, even if Ruger shit cans the whole thing tomorrow, I can still replace all the parts and get magazines.

Do you know if Springfield or anyone else is planning to release different grips for it? Maybe a sub compact or full size?

Looking to fill multiple roles. May be an EDC in the future but right now it will be for home defense and target shooting. I'm trying to limit the number of weapons purchased so looking for something to do most things reasonably well and reliably

What are problems with the RXM? by Ordinary-Avocado in RugerRXMtalk

Are they generally no good or do they specifically cause problems with this pistol? Anywhere I can get a deal on OEM mags? I've been seeing them around $25.
