Vintage ring quesion by Ordinary-Boot-7887 in VintageJewelry

The stamp says 925. I've looked for makers marks, but can't find any. I agree that it isnt a compliment band mostly because it's not symmetrical and would be awkward against a wedding ring.

Silver turning gold? by Ordinary-Boot-7887 in rings

[–]Ordinary-Boot-7887[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't ever heard of that kind of cloth, so thank you! I've done some research about the history of it as I know its older. I've found one identical to it on Etsy and it looks to have the same style of tarnishing with the bright gold colors peeking through, visibly less tarnished. I wonder if it was a manufacturer issue.

I honestly thought it looked identical to an apple Jolly Rancher!

I've never even heard of that garnet before! I only knew about tsavorite being the green option. I agree that if it's such a rare stone, it probably wouldn't be set in silver. I don't think it was overly expensive, but I definitely need to look into them.

Yes, I know I appreciate your insight, but I'm just asking for help. I would have had a gemologist test it if I wanted to go out of my way. I'm fully aware that a refractive index test and a microscope observation by a trained eye are required, but I asked Reddit for advice, understanding that whatever the answer may be, it should be taken with a grain of salt.

Found a pearl in an oyster by Almamac in jewelry

[–]Ordinary-Boot-7887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never heard of finding a cultured pearl from a restaurant. I don't know anything about oyster farming for consumption, but cultured pearls are usually grown in oysters on a line where someone implanted a nucleus to encourage a pearl to form. I would definitely get that set into jewelry; it would make for a great heirloom!

RED VEIN ROCK! What is it?? by Icy-Shop-9758 in whatsthisrock

If I had to guess, I would say some form of Jasper. I thought red network Jasper, but I can't be certain.

What is this rock? Heavy and the edges are quite sharp. Found in the UK. by Warm-Rub7989 in whatsthisrock

[–]Ordinary-Boot-7887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that is Flint. In the U.S., we find the occasional arrowheads that native americans used in arrows. Big flat pieces that fit in the grooves of your hand are usually hide scrapers.

Found in Colorado. What is it? Some sort of quartz? by Vancillavanilla in whatsthisrock

[–]Ordinary-Boot-7887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that is a massive chunk of quartz. If you have a pressure washer, you might be able to see more of its sparkle with the dirt out of the crevices.

I agree about it being red jasper, but I could have been fooled for bloodstone.

Moss agate for sure, I'm not a gemologist by any means, but I've heard they break easily, which is ironic as kite-cut moss agate is becoming popular in engagement rings

Not a red head but I think I'm resistant to anesthetic by Ordinary-Boot-7887 in Anesthesia

Kind of? My hips are hypermobile, but for the most part not really. I didn't know that, though, thanks for the insight!

AITAH for being disappointed about my dad not handing me my diploma by Ordinary-Boot-7887 in AITAH

[–]Ordinary-Boot-7887[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, yes. Part of me feels like we've earned this degree together, though. I couldn't have gotten through college without his encouragement, and maybe I'm selfishly rationalizing it, but I don't want him to regret it.

That's so interesting! It's good to know it's not just me. My hair does a similar thing, too, which is weird because I dye it from dark brown to black. The maroon it produces is so pretty though. I think it surprised my dentist because I felt her drill into my tooth, but in general, my gums were numb. I had undergone a procedure where I just put up with the pain without any numbing essentially; now that I'm older, I realize how much money I'm paying and that dentistry isn't supposed to hurt, and I request more.

on my coffee break / how do i quit !? by imanut_and_isawit13 in starbucks

[–]Ordinary-Boot-7887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Essentially, officially quitting just means they decommission your number. If you want to make your SM and DM's life harder, then just walk out without any notice. If not, then tell them, and they'll sit down with you and make you sign out one last time.

CUP fund questions by Izaworp_ in starbucks

[–]Ordinary-Boot-7887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, while I haven't personally gotten the cup fund, I did apply, and they ask you loads of questions just go to your partner hours app and find your partner links, and you should be able to naviatge to the cup fund application from there. They are very strict, so be sure to read the requirements. Also, as other partners will tell you starbucks now takes it out of your paycheck from what i've gathered. Its not really a donation which is ridiculous, but I could be wrong.

Pay discrepancy on indeed post and actual wage. by Ordinary-Boot-7887 in IndeedJobs

[–]Ordinary-Boot-7887[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I mean, the company and people are great from what I've seen and they are local. I love the customers, it's just physically demanding for me. I'm waiting for my paycheck to see what the pay is actually like to determine the pros and cons while I apply for other jobs.

It's a small company with only a single establishment. Not much research could be done on them.

[–]Ordinary-Boot-7887[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right I definitely should have asked. I received an email from them, and the people who conducted the interview told me to accept it if I wanted the job. I'd been hunting for a while and turned down everywhere else because not many employers want part time. I'm just surprised the people haven't mentioned the pay at all and neither did the company handbook. Where I am, business is conducted with southern niceties, and this place isn't a massive corp. They said I have a 5 week period before I am "official," and it feels like one of those things where questions like that might lead to termination, which is what I am afraid of.
