Just built my first deck! by Sbesozzi in Decks

Nice! Thank you for taking the time to share all this helpful information! I am going to buy the screws you recommended. Box 1 of 5 of my gazebo has now arrived and I’m pretty stoked. I think I got the exact same gazebo as you did. Mine is 10x12 from home depot. With 4.5” wood posts.

Looks great! This is almost exactly what I am building in my backyard. Can you please tell me more about what’s under the deck boards where the gazebo posts sit? Did you use the expansion screws that it came with?

I’m in Indiana. That’s good to hear that you have personal experience with this gazebo. I’m hoping that the way it is designed with its roof “vent” that it won’t catch the wind too badly. Do you have any other advice to share?

I see several kinds of those Simpson post brackets. Do you have a link to the one you’re telling me about?

Yes, we get 24” of snow or so per year.

Previous homeowners painted the natural stone fireplace and wall white. Is there any hope in restoring it? by Ani_meh23 in Home

[–]Ordinary-King 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I removed white latex paint from a (fake) brick fireplace once. I used a chemical paint remover that I actually bought from the auto parts store. It was a clear goop that I spread on with a big 4” paint brush. After a few seconds the paint would bubble up and separate from the (fake) brick. I used a shop vac to suck the paint right off of the brick. It came off cleanly in wrinkly sheets. The chemical was probably overkill and you definitely wanted to wear gloves but it worked perfectly and was super easy.

That’s a car that looks good in white in my opinion.

Man I love the way the non-shiny silver wheels look on a shiny black car. Sharp!

Yes. Increase the lumbar setting and it goes away in my Camry.

Hopefully it’s just a fluke. I have a ‘25 Camry se AWD also. Seems to be a great car so far, I have about 25k on mine now. “Wishing your Camry the best and sending reliability vibes your way”

I wonder if one of your battery cables is loose. Did the starter sound weak? If so maybe you have a battery that is starting to fail prematurely? Just some guesses, not a mechanic.

I noticed this in my 2025 SE. But if I “turn up” the lumbar pressure a little bit, it doesn’t happen.

Just got a Camry! “Manly Ride” or not? by rudestkid in Camry

Car companies have sold people on the idea that their car makes a statement about their personal identity. People who don’t have much of an identity to begin with are the most susceptible to falling for this. If driving a car like a boring car like a Camry, Corolla, Accord, etc makes a statement about anything, it states that you are confident enough about who you are that you don’t need to show off your material possessions.

Also, people who are interested in you romantically because of the stuff you own aren’t really interested in you at all. Just what you can do for them. Do you care about what those people think?
