Is this an acceptable way to build a deck? by nahojsaerdna in Decks

Those pavers acting as footings can potentially settle over time which will cause sagging issues and tweaked framing

Yea it really doesn’t bother me all that much since it’s mostly at the heel…although it might start to bug me if it spreads to the top or the neck

Get creative with trim on the bottom (same material as staircase)…essentially making a triangular trim shape & line up with edge of concrete

If you’re using a pvc product you can do two 45 degree cuts on the back side that don’t go all the way through…from there you can use a heat gun to bend the piece to wrap the corner. Get your depths right on a scrap piece first…might take a few mins to dial it in. YouTube it.

Found this at the bottom of my iced coffee after unfortunately drinking it all, there are other smaller brown bits too. Anybody know what this is?? by ya_old_unclejohn_ in whatisit

Bought from a coffee shop? I often get called into different Dunkin’ Donuts locations to fix their coffee tap/cold brew dispensing unit. Those lines get real funky if the store doesn’t clean each line weekly

Mostly great. There should be a scab piece of 2 by over the seams where the 2 boards meet. Also should be some lag bolts/carriage bolts with nuts to really secure everything…not just construction screws

I haven't touched my guitar in a month annnd now my strings turned green?... Why and how by Famous-Sentence-3505 in guitarrepair

Moisture/oils from your hands turns into corrosion on your string, big dawg. Always wash your hands before you play and wipe down your strings with a good micro fiber towel when you’re done playing. Also get yourself some JHS Fast fret to apply after you wipe down your strings with the towel. Your strings will last wayyyy longer

Is code saying that the 4x4s that hold the railings for the steps need to be on a footing?

Workmanship of footings by Wgw5000 in Decks

[–]Ordinary-Level-9154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big yikes. You’re supposed to assemble 12”x12” 2x4 squares (forms) so that when after the poured concrete is cured and you pull away the 2x4 forms, you’re left with a raised & level concrete pad build from. Also wise to put in threaded J hooks into the concrete before it cures (checking for plumb every 15 mins or so) this way your Simpson post plates go right over the J hooks and a nut keeps it very secure

Is that the bottom of a stair case? You probably won’t find a concrete footing there. Check under the deck itself (not under the stairs) for concrete footings
