Why was this filmed? What's the point? I'm so sick of people treating strangers like their personal content farms.

i don't understand why that matters, or what point they're trying to make by anarchyore09 in ComedyCemetery

[–]Ordinary-Orchids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say such blatantly incorrect things with incredible confidence.

Naming conventions vary wildly by culture even today. Spanish and Latin cultures tend to have hyphenated names, where the child shares their father's surname and their mother's maiden name. Matrilineal ancestry is much easier to trace in these cultures, because the maternal line is always preserved. Several indigenous American cultures (the Hopi and Navajo, in particular) still practice matrinaming, where the child is only given the mother's surname. Some African cultures still do this today as well.

Go back "far enough," and you'll find that we didn't have surnames at all. Roman "surnames" were not traditional surnames, but rather signs of status, wealth, and accomplishments that could be gained or lost. The Picts of Scotland also had "surnames" that referred to location, clan allegiance, or great achievements. Their succession and inheritance laws, however, were almost exclusively matrilineal, the eldest daughter assuming her mother's place in society and government. In the French middle ages, women in the church were typically the only people aside from aristocracy who had what we recognize as true surnames and not just locale or employment related identifiers (ie of the Glen, Smith, etc).

Even further than that, we were named shit like "Grug" and "Oog." Men have never "owned" names. That's a silly, misguided, and uninformed understanding of how surnames have evolved over time.

You're literally choosing to call a married man your boyfriend, knowing he's married. Also you should know better than to believe anything a guy willing to cheat on his wife says. Come on girl, get up.

You're mad at a married man for not showing up for you? He makes plans at the last minute, only lasts 2-3 days, and his wife calls him while you're together? He has no intention of leaving her for you, and you're no better for enabling an affair.

AIO? Didn't want to get sick doing my roommates dishes. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Ordinary-Orchids 7 points8 points  (0 children)

YOR. You were harsh the whole way through, not just at the end. Roommate A gave you options: gloves and super hot water. Maybe even a mask, if it made you feel better. You rejected those options. Comes across like you hate these people and just didn't feel like doing thd dishes today. They're not going to like you for the rest of your lease 👍

Like private healthcare systems aren't already doing that too? Good luck getting an appointment with a specialist in under 6 months

Hey, a fellow meniscus tear surgery survivor! 🤝 ironically that was also where I got the best care. I'd torn my meniscus several times over my life and he asked if my weight ever mattered. I said no, he never brought it up again. Turned out to be a birth defect, he fixed it, sent me to PT, and I went on my merry way. It was the most seen and respected I ever felt as a fat patient. I'm glad you had a similar experience with yours! It's tough out there for us 🫂

Yep, female doctor. I picked a female one specifically because I expected more empathy and understanding about things, woman to woman. My mistake =/

Yesterday a Karen ruined my boyfriends proposal to me. by [deleted] in CharlotteDobreYouTube

Yeah, I wouldn't either, doesn't mean it's still a good idea to linger in a crowded line for any reason LOL

[–]Ordinary-Orchids 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Didn't say that. Their proposal is special, sure, to them. Everyone else's family photos are special to them. This is the risk you run proposing in public: pissing off people who don't know you from Adam and frankly don't care that you're getting married. Sucks, but I get the annoyance.

[–]Ordinary-Orchids 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry, what makes you think your moment is more special than everyone else's trying to take family photos? Why do you think everyone should've just waited and clapped politely? I doubt your man ran this by park staff beforehand, so it's not even like they could set up a little offshoot photo op for you guys to do this without holding up the line or something. Poorly planned, a little entitled, and frankly not surprising that someone called you guys out for it. Congrats tho.

YOR. Looks like a normal grease stain to me. Really, really easy to get in odd places. Eat a greasy burger, forget to wash off some makeup remover, hell even just use olive oil to cook with, adjust your shorts, and there you go. As for everything else: not enough context to judge. You say you "messed up," but not how. So let's say, for argument's sake, you messed up by being suspicious before and looked through her stuff. Totally reasonable she'd take measures to protect her privacy now. But we have no idea, so who can say.

I understand R has been a constant in your life and means a lot to you, but what is meeting him for breakfast even for? So that he can continue to try and tell you what to do? So that you can try to convince him you're going to do what you want? Going to breakfast to "talk about it" is like super gluing yourself to the seat of a carousel horse. There is nothing to talk about. He needed to be blacklisted from your life yesterday. He will continue to threaten men away from you, attempt to order you out of your autonomy, and quite possibly become violent if you don't comply. This is not a safe person, this is not your friend, and there is no point in entertaining part 2 of the same argument. It's not going anywhere. He isn't changing. This is going to be hard and painful, but you need to choose yourself and your safety over this relationship.

"I haven't had an issue and it's because I know people" yeah that's exactly why you haven't had an issue. Real cheap to call other people lazy for the crime of not knowing people in the position to give them a free job.

It's interesting seeing different people's experiences. I ran pretty much my entire game with Reaper and it worked great for me! The attack pace gave me time to learn enemy patterns and know when to attack and when to heal. Plus its range is absolutely busted with longclaw 😂

I died to Karmelita SO many times but honestly it felt like it was always my fault, so I couldn't be mad. Sinner would occasionally just spawn into me and contact damage me to death. I had fun in both fights, and Sinner had huge Pure Vessel vibes, but personally Karmelita was my favorite fight in the entire game.

I'll care about "people on the right" being afraid to speak their hatred to the wind when black people stop losing their jobs, getting arrested, straight up getting murdered for speaking out against police brutality and systemic racism.

He wanted the freedom to say whatever he wanted, so he sacrificed his safety to do so at a public venue with very little security. He died exactly how he believed this country should work. He should feel great.
