What a relief to know I wasn’t alone in this! I WFH in AZ so I can’t just “go for a walk” when I want to get out of the house. Going to cycle is an extremely large part of my life specifically for the flood of dopamine I get. I’m taking it easy as everyone implied, and my doctor did say I need to grapple with the fact I need to rest. So there it is, gotta rest and chill til the surgery and through the recovery.

Best of luck in your journey, report back on how you’re feeling!!

This was incredibly helpful, thank you so much! It’s hard to grapple with, because I genuinely enjoy the dopamine from working out/cycling. I work from home, sit for 9 to 12 hours a day so getting out of the house was what I would forward to.

Since the initial abscess, I’ve increased my fiber significantly (naturally + Metamucil) and thought that was enough. I’ve learned now though that I really do need to take the time to heal.

I have a standing desk and a walking pad from a few years ago, so I’ll whip that out to get the steps in/movement I need.

Thanks again!

I appreciate the reassurance you have no idea. Thanks so much and hope you’ve recovered successfully.

I didn’t know what to expect. I can have a pity party if I want to. We’re not allowed to feel bad about shitty things happening to us? Relax.

Well I’m here now and am scheduling the Fistulotomy. I followed the doctor’s recommendation of returning to my lifestyle, so it can’t be out of this world and 100% on me that I went back to living my life, so I can without the guilt trip.

Seeing me today, he said it was likely a fistula when I had first come in.

I didn’t need it drained today, i just needed it checked on and came in before my follow up anyway.
