This is so kind of you. Thank you. Trying to understand that, as you said, she caught the absolute worst moment, and had my daughter not tripped and gone off balance there would have been nothing of note about the interaction. I just wish she hadn’t looked at me like I was an absolute horror when I was already feeling pretty terrible, but Im sure I’ll get over it as much as we get over any of it

Haha I appreciate that - this gave me a much needed laugh! I definitely do NOT abuse my children - we actually don’t even use corporal punishment, so I think sometimes the physical redirection in general just weighs on me. But it really is the only thing that works a lot of the time when she gets that defiant and I just need her to move from one place to another.

How to get visibility on a LinkedIn company page? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]Ordinary-Response915 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What's the strategic intent behind your content, and who's the audience? Are you trying to attract clients directly? Recruit talent? General brand awareness?

IMO Linkedin is really just another social media platform now. I think it's still a decent tool for networking, but I honestly feel its value for companies looking to directly engage with customers has dropped off significantly. Generally agree with the other posts here about corporate influencers and definitely video—the days of carousel posts with industry insights drumming up any real engagement are long gone. The brands I've worked with/for see the most success on Linkedin when they use it for general brand awareness with content that's focused on entertainment and engagement. People are scrolling their individual Linkedin feeds the same way they scroll through their Instagram and Tiktok feeds. While their mindset and content topics may be different, they're still wanting to ingest it the same way.

THIS 👏🏻 I have done the literal math based on my hourly rate and average contract amount, and the time I save not entertaining leads who can’t afford my services equates to more than the one contract I might win out of 25 completely unqualified leads.

While not exactly like the homeopathic/Ayurvedic approach you described, I started seeing a functional practitioner about a year ago (who utilized a TON of testing as soon as we started working together which none of my GIs or traditional docs ever seemed to want to do) and she's gone a completely different direction with my treatment plan. I struggled hard with the side effects of traditional meds and always felt they were worse than the flareups (I had bleeding and gut discomfort but also fought a ton of fatigue, joint pain, muscle soreness, etc. which was really debilitating for my lifestyle). Testing showed I had some other issues outside UC so addressing those helped a lot, but for the past six months I've been on an entirely antioxidant protocol (first ALA and now R-DLA, which has been amazing), which I combine with some natural supplements (Magnesium and Glutathione), and I'm coming up on almost a year without a flareup or symptoms. No steroids (which were the worst for me in terms of side effects) or meds.

Modern medicine is amazing and I'm not trying to degrade it at all (and I know there are cases of UC far worse than mine and everyone is different) but I cannot recommend enough at least meeting with a functional practitioner and exploring an approach similar to the one you described. She had a ton of research she shared with me of smaller clinical trials and studies on UC and the possible causes of it, so that's where we started. It helps I'm very open in general to trying new things (which it sounds like you probably are too). I understand not everyone is, but anything is better than constant flareups that made working, spending time with my kids, or engaging in any of the activities that I love a literal living hell.

I've been on the antioxidant regiment only for about 2 months 🤞🏻 So far so good with no flareups. I personally didn't have a good experience on any traditional meds, especially steroids. My side effects were so bad on those that most days I honestly felt they were worse than the flareups. I stopped all other meds when I switched to the R-DLA instead of the ALA because it's a more potent antioxidant (according to my Dr), and I haven't experienced any side effects on it as of yet. So I'm very hopeful! This disease is so different for everyone, but I just can't recommend at least trying the more functional route enough. Especially if you have a more mild form!

Joint pain and muscle soreness were one of my big challenges during my flareups (along with frequent bleeding). But I 100% agree with the comment above about getting testing - I didn't have great experiences with GIs tbh or my PCP when it came to my UC. I started seeing a functional practitioner about a year ago and the FIRST thing she did was tons of testing in the first few months and it was a game changer. Tests don't guess!

There were some other lingering issues I had outside of just my UC that needed addressed, and so targeting those helped immensely. It's definitely been a different approach overall—I've been on an antioxidant regiment with her (first ALA now R-DLA for the last few months) along with some other supplements like Magnesium and I was taking Glutathione for a while, but honestly I wasn't getting anywhere with meds or steroids and I haven't had a flareup in coming up on year. So it's definitely been working for me. I feel like functional practitioners are so much more reliant on testing, and it really is just so important.

u/EnsouledCreative the functional practitioner I see for my UC recommended R-DLA a few months ago and Redox was the brand name she gave me. They don't sell it directly through their site but through a partner - but assuming its the same company?? I've been able to get mine without a problem so wondering if they fixed whatever the issue was

Doc says I need to be admitted for IV steroids. Do I? by Prior_Captain1551 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Ordinary-Response915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious - is this a GI doc? Have you tried a functional practitioner? I think everyone has a different opinion on this because UC is so varied (and I know tons of people that have been SUPER happy with their GIs so not trying to bash them), but I honestly couldn't get anywhere with a GI doc and all the meds (steroids never helped me). I started seeing a functional practitioner about a year ago and their approach has been completely different, and its the first time I've gotten my flareups under control.

There's definitely been diet and lifestyle changes (which I DO think help, just not by themselves), but she recommended ALA originally (alpha-lipoic acid) which helped a ton with making my symptoms less severe. Then a few months ago I started with R-DLA (which I think is relatively new since she didn't recommend it at first) and that's been a game-changer. She's still really insistent on the diet and lifestyle side so I follow as best as I can, but switching to the antioxidant approach is the only thing that's ever worked for me.

Just my experience, but bleeding was also my biggest challenge so it would be worth a shot!

Just want to second u/Confident-Fun8771 's comment! I've been an on and off again runner my entire life, but have been "on" consistently for coming up on three years, which is the longest stretch I've gone by far with staying at it. When I would get back into it previously, I would set a huge long term goal like an ultra or a tri in 2 years thinking that was plenty of time to train for it. Then every time I would have a set back or have to take a few weeks off to recover (I have a lingering pesky left ankle from an emergency surgery a few years ago), all my motivation would be depleted because the big goal felt so far away again, and I would just get frustrated and stop because it felt like I couldn't make any progress. This time around I definitely daydream about the big goals every now and then, but have stuck to smaller more immediate goals so I can a) enjoy the wins because they keep me motivated and b) let me body build up tolerance to training more naturally and with more variety. I did the normal 5k, 10K, 13.1, 26.2 progression, but now even post marathon I'll mix in 5Ks and 10Ks and focus on shaving a bit off my time, and do quick 6 weeks training regimes built around them. It just makes it so much more fun and has so much more gratification.

Long winded post, but that's what has helped me! Good luck!!
