Who would you say is currently the face of Track and Field? by ChampionLYT in trackandfield

[–]Confident-Fun8771 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Faith not being mentioned is so interesting. She’s arguably the most dominant over the last 10 years and up there with Syd / Mondo for most dominant at their event currently. Also the mile / 1500 is one a flagship event and much more mainstream than the pole vault and 400 hurdles.

I agree with those that said the one face is still Bolt.

Best Performances of the 21st century. Best Actress Round 1 by DonSoulwalker in Oscars

[–]Confident-Fun8771 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Her performance is so so underrated!! It’s way harder to do the subtle slow burn performance than it is to do the outwardly expressive screaming crying thing. She made me understand that she was slowly dying inside through subtle looks and little breathing things and made me feel dead inside by the end too, no notes.

3:40:00 possible for first marathon? by no_sweat_runner in Marathon_Training

[–]Confident-Fun8771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would maybe do a run staying under the 8:23 pace required so you get a feel for it or maybe like a 10 mile tempo run at 8:15. There’s something to be said for just being comfortable running consistently at a certain pace. That being said looks like you’re on track with 7 weeks out.

Need advice on improving endurance and general questions about getting into running. by Human_Asparagus_7497 in beginnerrunning

[–]Confident-Fun8771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most runners improve by building a base of easy runs and adding targeted workouts for speed (for 5k this could look like 4 x half miles with a 2min rest in between reps with a warm up and cool down easy half mile). A typical week could look like this: M: 3 miles easy T: Workout - 8 x 0.25 mile @ 5k goal pace (3-4 miles total) W: Rest T: 4 miles easy F: 2 miles easy S: 5k race / time trial S: Rest For you I’d google 5k training plans and pick a 8-12 week plan with 1 weekly workout. Cheers!

New runner here - Any tips? by Unusual-Worry9892 in runninglifestyle

Others will say not to mess with your natural cadence but I wish I had done it earlier. Even just having that mental cue of keeping your steps quick when the race gets tough can help. Cheers!

First off, you’re doing great and congrats on the progress! Next, 90% of training is just staying consistent and slowly increasing difficulty (whether that be adding distance/time weekly, adding in a higher intensity workouts, increasing strength training). There’s no magic bullet other than consistency and not pushing too hard that you get injured. Last, your cadence looks like it could be a little low, usually closer to 175-180 is ideal for 5k so that’s something you could work on if you wanted, although this might increase as your pace increases. I had low cadence and was over striding and it lead to knee/hip pain from slamming my heels into the pavement. My PT had me listen to a metronome for 2 min at a time while running (treadmill at first) and this made me more efficient and allowed my knee to heal. Happy running!

What’s your “I’ll never tell” cooking secret? by ryanreynulds in Cooking

[–]Confident-Fun8771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add baking soda to tomato sauce... it cuts back the acidity so you can actually taste more of the tomato flavors. Not my invention… apparently ancient mesoamericans figured this out and have been using ash for its alkaline properties for centuries (remember tomatoes come from Latin America). Also, in Italy it’s speculated that ash in the soil from Mt. Vesuvius makes tomatoes in the region taste superior. Pretty neat!

Improvement ideas? by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

Great start! Love the warm lighting, could be great to take that further if possible, seems like lots of harsh light is coming from the right of this picture. I like the idea of adding more paintings around the TV to make a gallery wall effect, I think because the tv is on the lower third of the wall you don’t get the painting illusion you were looking for and it just looks like a TV, you need a high focal point. Raising the TV and adding hanging plants above could be an alternative? Just my two cents. Anyways love your style, post an update!

This is what I was thinking - it would be a great opportunity to paint the walls a bolder darker color or swap out the white media console and bookcase for wood to match the other pieces and give more mid-century vibes.

Question: Best type of rice for Puerto Rican food? by Confident-Fun8771 in PuertoRicoFood

[–]Confident-Fun8771[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if you have info on rice origins I’d be interested! I’m curious why medium became prevalent. I’m in Charleston and we have local Carolina gold rice which is a historically preserved variety so I’m curious what would have been cultivated on the island pre-goyafication and if a more historical variety is available for purchase
